Male Witch

check The Secret Circle tv show ;) male witches are in there too,tough in other tv shows/books they're called warlocks,the male version of witches...there are of cource other COOL things like wizards,magi/magus (like in Dungeons And Dragons and Dungeons And Dragons 2 - ElementalMight or that black dragon name not sure wich one is the real name of the second movie.)
Just got up to date with The Secret Circle tv show it's epic,i will read the books too when i'll have more time...and Dresden Files heh

I think a male witch wouldnt detract from the character at all :l

Sorcerer/Warlock ( warlock isn't a tard nickname btw,in the tv series Merlin,where merlin and arthur and those are young, the dragon calls merlin "young warlock" )

Warlock is the male for witch ! Sorcerer is more the male for sorceress :) and there are also - wizard,magi ,magus, you name it :D
edit : Maguses were ...or magi forgot..i think maguses..in Dungeons And Dragons the first movie ..the second one was nice too aka Elemental Might or wrath of the dragon god :D

Can you not play a male witch in this game? That's very disappointing, that right there is the difference between whether I play the game or not.

I won't be forced to play a female or be a melee class.

Well first and foremost the most common "male Witch" is a WIZARD. Am i the only one who read the HP books ten times each in Russian and English? COME ON warlock is a war-mage concentrating on big explosive spells and usualy stole/ made a deal w the devil, while a witch or a wizard have modest damage output but concentrate more on buffing and debuffing, though there is some cross-over with the necromancer there.

My work here is done
