EXALTED ORB Price Shenanigans [Delirium] 127:1 What is even going on?

In this league, exalt prices suddenly dropped from 180+ to 130ish.

At this same exact time, GGG banned numerous bot accounts.

Reasonable hypothesis: Bot's have a significant impact on the economy. It's likely easiest to have bots simply farm for chaos orbs which are plentiful this league due to incursions. Thus, the market is flooded with chaos orbs and all items will become more expensive relative to chaos orbs.

GGG then banned numerous bot accounts, eliminating a significant amount of chaos from the economy; as a result, prices dropped especially exalt orb prices.
=========
In terms of drops, this league likely is similar to breach as other posters have pointed out.
=========
TL/DR - strong circumstantial evidence exists that bots are a large factor in driving the price of exalts to 180+ chaos this league.

you mentioned that in terms of drops, this league is likely similar to breach - but did you consider the amount of bots? do you think there are more bots this league than previous leagues? same amount? less? and how does that factor in your analysis if we would consider the amount of bots is same for this league and previous one? would that mean that bots drive chaos prices down equally in both leagues and thus have nothing to do with the high exalt prices this league?

I think they are much more and growing. And bots actually rule the market already, so players not allowed there.

Just one reason behind that: bots have lightning reaction time. They buying out items cheap to their owner. They buying out orbs, jewels, T1 or meta uniques, hi tier maps. All for cheap. Then selling for much more. Its the easiest money using bots they do. They making hundreds and thousands of exalts by just not playing but running scripts.

I saw this thing in action and you can easily verify it: go to live search and seek i83+ searching eye. You will never ever buy one with your human reflexes.

It isnt "reflexes" issue. Bots use private indexers, and act faster than "standart" PoE.trade or similar. Players, who use private indexers, can compete with bots too, because items are sold by humans anyay.

And most bots get their profits just farming currency with 20+ instances of PoE running. Cause sniping items even VS 10 other bots is quite a cumbersome task.

Is it still the case?

But I noticed huge differences between poe.trade and pathofexile.com/trade last few weeks. poe.trade seems outdated most of the time.

Fairly sure the amount of private indexing scum has gone down but it's more than possible a small amount still exists through more sophisticated and expensive means. How to prove it's still going on is a tough matter short of a scummer coming forth and telling GGG where they are getting their private indexer.

At this point, GGG should be more than in the clear to ban private indexers.

well poe.trade is so shit at times that Ive listed stuff and its been over 3 hours before it actually went up and started showing in searches on that site.

Its not fit for its purpose. Its served us well, all thanks to xyz and Im sure hes made an absolute fortune off ad traffic over the years but GGG need to axe all public feeds and bring the entire trade interface inside the game. No 3rd party websites, no 3rd party tools at all outside of clumsy forum scrapers, the entire thing inside the game where everyone has immediate and equal access. Enough fucking around, 5 years already, get it done.

When you sell an item and youre still getting messages for it an hour later because poe.trade has not updated its pretty obvious that site cannot service our community for trade purposes in the way we deserve. We cannot rely on it to function correctly and we cannot trust a trade system open to private 3rd party tools that potentially work where our go to resource fails.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)
Bad news for me with a lone Exalt I wondered about selling, but it is interesting to note that the ratio keeps falling. Down 40% from the top now, to 105-110 chaos per exalt. Will it keep going down? (he asked rhetorically)

Shades of 1929...! :o

The averaege price in chaos of a 6 link armour dropped from 750 to 500 nearly overnight while the exalt price remained mostly the same.

107:1

No wonder it's going down like that. People who were doing chaos recipe like crazy suddenly stopped doing so and everyone started investing into Zana mods again as well. /s
It's about 100 now lol
