Upcoming Video Memory Utilisation Improvements

Good to finally see a post on this. I literally thought I was going insane earlier this league and spent many hours tweaking my already steroidal machine to no effect. Without confirmation from the dev team, and trying to avoid conspiracy theories online that this was a real issue, I actually though I needed a new power supply for my video card or something radical like that since I never had issue with the game before delirium league.

I can't imagine the complexity of the algorithm to properly cache/dump textures based on what "might" be needed in the present/future, however it kind of blows my mind that my own skill effects need to be reloaded every single new map or zone I go into. I mean, isn't that super low hanging fruit? I rarely change my skills or mtx, yet they are blurred out and blocky for the first N seconds of ever area. Why? I hope this is being thought of separately from just the VRAM usage. Please.
So thats why people are complaining about missing graphics all league? Well i also used vulkan just because i could, and the other day it made my game not only close out but disappear when i wasn't in any graphical area. So maybe it unloaded my game? lol Anyways time to switch back to directx11 since i could go without having textures disappear in the middle of playing.

conspiracy theory's online? about poe? wtf do you work for a news agency by chance? lol jp i get what your saying but i highly doubt their is any conspiracy other than the fact that graphics were missing and people trying to figured out why, if their was any theory that was labeled a conspiracy it was probably exactly what GGG just said was the issue, vulkan unloading things to early. The blurriness and blockiness of your textures loading every area is form your stuff just loading in and it preloaded partly before it actually loaded. Sometimes internet connection can play a part. Mind if i ask what your main specs are and what settings you play with in game? might be able to help solve that part of the problem for ya.
Give us the option to turn off all aura effects might help.... atm I use vanishing dyes
Not sure if this has been asked already, but does PoE work with a dual GPU setup? As in, can it take advantage of VRAM from two GPUs in systems that have them? And if not, is that even a possibility, considering that the GPU engines are being reworked, in a way?

I know it is not a very common scenario, and for most people it wouldn't make any difference, but I'm curious about whether it would work... I work with artificial intelligence, and most of my workflow is GPU-bound, so I'm lucky enough to have a system with more than a single dedicated GPU (my system has two GTX 1070 Ti in a workstation chassi, and I use it for work mostly... I'm not trying to flex with a double RTX 3090 gaming rig or anything).

I know that in my case (AI development) it's easier to have multiple GPUs assigned to workflows, because they're based on CUDA calculations and not necessarily associated with combining VRAM from different hardware, but I know it's a possibility for video editing software and other VRAM-intensive applications...

I'd be curious if that's a possibility for PoE, and how would that work. Also important to note an even narrower case, but since PoE is now ported to Mac OS, the 2013 Mac Pro (aka trash can) has a dual-GPU as well... And the individual GPUs in that case have individually less VRAM, so it would be more important to be able to utilize both at the same time...

Hoping to hear a serious response from GGG on this.
Very nice to finally get a bit more news about this issue. Feels bad that I've died so many times this league over what feels like more BS then usual haha, thanks for the news, just really hoping it works out and does the community some good.

I was really hoping to hear improvements to Ultimatum league. Esp spawn conditions for the trialmaster... guess that is too much to hope for...

FFS man, stop being sour. Did you read the title or not when you decided to post?

You got a problem?

They literally said on the post that they wanted to implement this fix for the 3.15 so next league but since the perf are so bad this league they gonna fix it for ultimatum. Why you would complain that is it too much to hope for when they try to fix it for this league.
I think we should try to stop asking for too much for changes fixes and be glad they accutally fix the core game which is really nice

Awesome
Best post I've read all league, thanks for talking to us about what's going on because this league is really rough.
Hope it works well :) Good luck.
