Approximate Numerical Orb Values Here!

Special thanks to Silty, who has been extremely helpful in building this table.

I did some quick and simple math to get some rough values for orbs. I'm using what appears to be standard ratios, as several people had this pasted into their signature. Keep in mind these are absolutely not definite values. The market changes continuously, and what people need influences how much they value any given orb. All values are approximate. It's worth noting that these values are for Default league, and may be very different in hardcore or one of the legacy leagues.

Spoiler contains the information I used to make the value comparisons:
Spoiler
1 Exalted = 2 divine, 8 gcp, 8 regal
1 Divine = 4 gcp, 4 regal, 14 chaos
1 GCP = 1 regal, 3 regret, 3.5 chaos, 6 scouring, 7 alcy, 8 fusing, 32 jewelers, 60 alterations

From my experience, the values are closer to:

Chromatic = $1
Alteration = $1
Jewelers = $2
Fusing = $8
Alchemy = $7
Scouring = $7
Chaos = $14
Regret = $14
Regal = $40
GCP = $48
Divine = $192
Exalted = $384

Chromatics often bought in large packs for prices similar to alterations.

I mean the values you get from using them as currency to buy better orbs, obviously.

4:1 transmutation:augmentation, 4:1 augmentation:alteration, 4:1 chance:scouring

I would appreciate it if anyone has the relative values for Transmutation, Augmentation, Chance, Blessed, Whetstone, Armor scrap, and Glassblower.

These are not real money values at all. I must stress that these are slowly evolving, approximate numbers.

Transmutation = $0.07
Augmentation = $0.25
Alteration = $1
Chromatic = $1 (Or slightly more?)
Chance = $2
Jewelers = $2
Fusing = $7
Alchemy = $7
Scouring = $7
Chaos = $14
Regret = $14
Regal = $30
GCP = $45
Divine = $180
Exalted = $360

If these values seem far off because I've missed something, or calculated something incorrectly, please let me know as well. I'm thinking that assigning basic values will help people unfamiliar with this unusual economy to get into it more easily.

For anyone wondering what the vendors consider some orbs' values to be:

portal scroll : scroll of wisdom = 1:3
orb of transmutation : portal scroll = 1:7
orb of augmentation : orb of transmutation = 1:4
orb of alteration : orb of augmentation = 1:4
jewelers orb : orb of alteration = 1:2
chromatic orb : jewelers orb = 1:3
orb of fusing : jewelers orb = 1:4
orb of scouring : orb of chance = 1:4
orb of regret : orb of scouring = 1:2
blacksmith whetstone : armourer's scrap = 1:3
armourer's scrap : blacksmith whetstone = 1:1

As a backup, the following spoiler contains the past revision of the list.

Spoiler
Alteration = $1
Jewelers =~$2
Fusing ~$7.50
Alchemy = ~$9
Scouring = $10
Chaos = ~$17
Regret = $20
Regal = $60
GCP = $60
Divine = $240
Exalted = $480

--------------

Transmutation = $0.07 **(This seems too low, will confirm)
Augmentation = $0.25
Alteration = $1
Chromatic = $1 (Or slightly more?)
Chance = $2
Jewelers = $2
Fusing = $8
Alchemy = $8
Scouring = $8
Chaos = $15
Regret = $15
Regal = $47
GCP = $50
Divine = $200
Exalted = $400
Yup.

This is a good layout and an attempt at quantifying orb values.

The thing you have to remember is that these values tend to fluctuate due to demand and orb usage.
for example: fusing orbs are, in reality, worth moe than your stated value simply due to the fact that they are probly the most used orbs in the game, and are constantly sought after by players. Hence giving them a high in game value.
These are the values you can buy orbs at the shops.

portal scroll : scroll of wisdom = 1:3
orb of transmutation : portal scroll = 1:7
orb of augmentation : orb of transmutation = 1:4
orb of alteration : orb of augmentation = 1:4
jewelers orb : orb of alteration = 1:2
chromatic orb : jewelers orb = 1:3
orb of fusing : jewelers orb = 1:4
orb of scouring : orb of chance = 1:4
orb of regret : orb of scouring = 1:2
blacksmith whetstone : armourer's scrap = 1:3
armourer's scrap : blacksmith whetstone = 1:1

Oh, they definitely fluctuate. The idea of this list was to give relative values for use in judging if a trade is a rip-off or not. Whether its worth it to you is different from being an unfair deal in the first place.

Also, this list is inherently inexact because I pulled the original comparisons from what seems to be the most commonly used table people had. I never saw anyone contesting it, so I made a leap of faith that it was at least somewhat accurate. If it is, then my table should be as well.

If you know something seems of, I'd appreciate some help. I'm going to be pasting these into my sig once I feel confident in it, and doing business with these values in mind. I'll probably update it with the times if I feel something has gone up or down in value.

The shops are generally expensive in order to encourage player to player trading. I don't think I want to use the shop's idea of pricing all that much. You can see its inherent imbalance, clear as day, right at the end where it calls a whetstone the same as 3 armorer scraps, but then says single armorer scrap costs 1 whetstone.
Yup.

I'm assuming you left Blessed out due to its worthlessness :)

I don't have anything to go off of for its relative value, and forgot it existed.. -_- oops
Yup.
This deserves a sticky, trying to get a sense of value for orbs is one of the hardest challenges facing new players.

At the very least, not yet it doesn't. It's not anywhere near completed. I'm really hoping I can get some more information, particularly on the orbs that are missing from the list.
Yup.
A great feature that could be added is simply make ALL orbs purchaseable at the vendor so the values could be solidified.

New folks are constantly scammed because they don't know the value of the drops or understand the currency.

I don't think solidifying is the right answer either. The fact is that the market is currently 100% player driven - this is probably the strongest point of the current market. Allowing players to assign relative values to them is a driving force in keeping the market balanced - if you stagnate it, it's going to imbalance itself and feel wrong. At least, that's my take on it as of now.

Avoiding scamming is the dual responsibility of the community and the individual. It sucks to be scammed, but the community has provided a lot of information, and often responds to questions on value with relative accuracy. If you make a trade without checking up (as I have already,) you're partially to blame. Seriously, I bought a common 4link for a chaos. Major Derp.

The other side of that responsibility is on us. We should try to provide this information as easily as possible, so that new players don't feel overwhelmed, and veteran players can quickly double check their intuitions. An experienced player will know when they can get a little more or less for an item based on how the market feels, but it's always good to have the resources available.
Yup.
