Path of Exile 3.16 Balance - Part 2 - Core Character Defences and Recovery

Hope for a overhaul of the 1990 loot system in part 4
If not we going to skip this season too
We are doing a major balance pass to improve defences and recovery for all characters

Gladiators and rangers: LIARS!
Rip dodge :/

Overall i'm not so fan of defense change

I read everywhere that bow characters are going to die. They say they will buff evasion and spell negation as a trade for dodge removal. Can anyone explain this noob why that should or should not work?
If i have to rebuild or heavily modify all my standard characters AGAIN then i am 100% done with PoE/GGG. Im still pissed about how bad they bacame after 3.15. In 3.14 i hit a point in my PoE "career" where I could finally handle all game content fairly well and i was damn happy and proud of that. But ill be fukt if i can now on those characters. I play standard mostly. I usually do make one new char for each new temp league though. This game is becoming dead to me sadly.

Really hope 3.16 is indeed going to be a better smoother experience where end game content is achievable without paying a damn arm and a leg to get there.

evasion will be buffed massively and it will also have the so called "spell supression" which negates half of spell damage and the chance to supress can stack to 100%, the problem is that dodge gave an absolute mitigation without any items while evasion thus supression is linked to your items

ggg wants to shift max block -> max supression + even more grinding for items

so, queen of the forest is back as meta

We're (presumably) getting ele immune / phys immune / other immune monsters in the core game with introduction of Expedition content.

Why other means of defence and offence should be different!

Coming up next, in 3.17:
- Armor Pierce
- ES Pierce (RIP CI)
- Inflicted Damage Can't Be Converted
- Inflicted Damage Can't Be Reduced
- Whatever
Good stuff GGG.
Really like the problem/solution approach.
If you are going to face a real challenge, it has to be a real challenge. You can't accomplish anything without the possibility of failure.

Agree, I had the same. On 3.12 and 3.13 I had a good game. There was a breakthrough in 3.14, I finally made it to Sirus. I didn't beat him, but I was proud to have made it this far by doing my own thing. Now you will have to learn math and new defense mechanics again. Although it is possible that the rest of the classes that have limited access to Dex and evasion have a wider field of defense. Maybe it will be for the better ...

Yep, my head calculations were correct. Bows had no Defence, and now they have even less.

Go to 5:11 and then go back to the start.

This is the exact thing i feared as well. Evasion still also has entropy that means no matter how much of it you have it WILL fail, at some point. That means they cant buff Evasion enough to make up for losing layering defenses , especially on bows. For non bow users there might be new archetypes like block/evasion layering or evasion/es/ghost dance hybrids on non tricksters , but bow chars don´t have great access to these ( other than losing a heavy chunk of dps from rare quivers to use uniques like rearguard or soulstrike )
