You can't compensate block with armor, because many skils depend on block, on which builds are built, so it would be good to strengthen them at the same time.

But generally a nerf for ranger due to the Massive powered dodge.
I do support the idea to remove something that is compulsory for build that it actually becomes build-less, because its compulsory.

2k deaths per league char will be 1k deaths now.

300 deaths per league char will be feeling real good now. (SEE THIS)

0 deaths per league char will die now.

Was : Dodge Build > Block build > HP/Armor Build > ES Build > Dex/Evasion Build
Now : Block build > HP/Armor build > ES Build > Dex/Evasion Build

Block is still very good for classes that has easy access to Armor.

Ranger and Shadow lost their trump card Dodge which requires very little investment to be the favored defensive mechanism.

GGG you did not improve evasion build as a overall because dodge was removed which is super powered.
GGG need put in more to compensate for higher investment Dex/Evasion build.
Recommend all Pure dex armor has 50% more hp.
Because you WILL feel the pain when you eventually get hit. And there are too much offensive passive that is needed for a bow build.

I support the idea that fortified should be a damaged reduction specialize for a melee. Probably you need to revamp it into something else globally as a game engine and you don't even need a fortified skills gem.
It was meant for a solution that melee build was getting more risk. Making it as something that requires investment doesn't really has the correct directions.
And it will not be something players can abuse, its a game engine.
Something like you get a buff. You don't even need a buff icon.
For the past 4 sec the highest damage dealt by you is from melee. You get damage reduction.
For the past 4 sec the highest damage dealt by you is from range/spells. Enemies that hits you is slowed.

Did a dev actually think it was a good idea to have Ghost Reaver read the same as Vaal Pact regarding regen?

I don't quite understand this change either. At least they should compensate this huge downside with "100% increased maximum energy shield leech per second" or something alike.

Well after the barrel scraping nerfpocalypse league that was expedition, I suppose it was buff league or close up shop.

Problem is you already ran 90% of my friends off. I don't think passing out mirrors would bring them back at this point. And I'm still not seeing changes to core issues, like trade and crafting clutter. And party punish.

Yes parties are powerful IF you abuse mechanics, but a lot of party play is straight up unwise.

Also the class system is crap and sexist and racist. Let any shape/voice character be any profession.

I want ninja girls. This is why chieftain is such a trash build. It's a caster class forced to start eye deep in punch nodes. Go back to your classless roots.

Also lab is garbage. AT LEAST remove all but 3 trials, and let us complete them all at once by doing uber first.

Also let us exchange master missions. I have about a trillion stacked up in standard and end of league is usually the same. It's just as bad as the old daily system. Feels like a punishment for not doing chores.

Really I could go on, but I think I'm just gonna play dyson sphere project instead.

To improve Evasion char defences you nerf it??? NICE .
The problem of this tree side is the lack of sustain or mitigation and youre removing spell mitigation for spells from Wind Dancer , and instead you add a pseudo block mechanic who needs a lot of invest into it without adding any kind of sustain ..... hope you also add the skill points to 132 with this patch.... Again i think you have no clue about your game or you barely play it

Top left tree block chars gona be op comparing with others and gone be to easy get defences with 0 invest.

You are regreting mostly all changes to you made about ES in the past... i think recognyze errors is good , personally dont understand the ghost reaver change with wicked ward but lets see how ES leech works now.

ES recharge seems broken af with all the block and spell block youre adding so i guess im playing that again , back to my retarded 18K es ED/cold dot occ with 10K es recharge x sec and 5K es regen... seems good to me.

Again dont think you have any clue what are doing with your game... i hope you are trying to slow balance it but i see a lot of nonsense balance... Atleast youre balancing the game through passive tree i think this is good .

TBH i think what youre gona get with this is same as before... people wont change the super glass cannon evasion builds for more stable ones ... becaus is no viable , they have no sustain , now they or not playing them or playing them with less defences since youre removing/changing Acro/phase acro .

I think fortify changes are good , but not giving casters/range chars an alternative to it have again no sense , seems a nerf to me for competitive racing like gauntlet, but makes sense now.Maybe you should consider change "Hardened scars" also since it wont have any pourpose anymore , into some for caster/ rangers idk.

No monster balance seems really bad.
No sustain changes seems really bad.

Part one sounded bad to me.

This part seems reasonable.

But as i read throught it, im wondering if all the buffs to defense is going to carry over to offensive capabillites (in terms of lower investment in defence resulting into higher dps).

If this is the case i would like to see more dmg nerfs.

You are ignoring what you get by accepting those minus 25% max. block. That being 50% spellblock. Before everyone but Gladiator and Necro had issues getting Spell Block high enough without using Glancing Blows. Which at best was 75% block and spell block but you took 2/3s of the damage anyway, so if all hits were equal in damage it would come out to the same as having 25% block and spell block with 0% of the damage taken.

Now everyone gets 50%. That is double what we had before. Yes, Gladiator is weaker, Necro I guess we have to see the other changes. But that is a good change for everyone else and it does make it better for everyone else.

They also keep talking about improving your "core defenses" but unless they dramatically scale armor to where you can reach 90% mitigation it's not going to help much. Adding 10% more armor or what ever is not going to do anything. People are still going to have to rely on alternative methods to stay alive. This whole patch just reads like one giant nerf to me, but written with very sneaky language.


That is just not true for the majority of content. Yes, T19 100% delirious maps or the new ravaged blight maps or flawless breachstones might need really sophisticated solutions for defense - as was the case before. But T14 - T16 maps? Endgame bosses like UElder, Maven, Shaper (if you still count him)? Certainly not. Bosses can be manually dodged in nearly all cases and in maps just getting more defense and especially an easier and more natural way to build defensive layers will lead to much smoother gameplay for many. What you complain about is really something that is relevant for the 1% - but the casual player? Just having a much easier time to get 50% block / spellblock together with faster healing flasks when you get hit together with more mitigation provided by armour so that even moderate amounts actually can be felt.. yes, this will help.

I also think some in this comment thread really underestimate the impact of just having these things in the tree and not hidden behind items / inaccessible except for certain ascendancies. This is an incredible difference - everyone that tried to build defenses on a non-Necromancer-Witch can attest to that. Block? Only with Glancing Blows... but then you need a shield with %-life on hit, else it is useless. Armour or Evasion? Have fun getting your colors... and even if you do, none of your obvious nodes do anything for these defenses. Which leaves travelling down to Acro/Phase Acro or going ES - which in itself requires certain gear and a combination of the two is not sensible (due to reduced ES from Acro). Self-cast is imo in a bad spot not (just) because of the damage but because the classes that would excel in it have a hard time building the necessary defenses. But now? Being able to get Ghost Shrouds, to build into ES/Evasion while adding some block to it is huge to make them viable again. And all of that stuff is just available in the tree? Crazy! I am fairly certain that more players will be able to get further than before while at the same time the power-creep for the top-players should be very small. That is a real boon for PoE - even though I'm certain there will be areas that do not work as imagined and which will need correction. But that is always the case.
