It would cost them development time to solve a problem that might possibly be complicated and which only affects a small portion of their user base.

That's 100% of the issue here and everything else they have posted about it along with every fake and invalid argument put forth by people in this thread for why black bars are actually OK or good is 100% gaslighting nonsense.

This is the closest GGG has ever come to behaving like a classic anti-consumer AAA publisher focused on quarterly profit margins over player experience, and it's why I will keep this thread here.
