Boss fights in POE or: Alkaizerx says Uber Lilith is better than any POE Pinnacle Boss
" Are you really arguing that bad signaling is a good thing? Man i couldn't disagree more. Keeping the signaling subtle is fine in a souls like, you're in third person over the shoulder looking directly at a monster that is almost always alone, and filling a third to half the screen. You're controlling a character with built in iframe defenses or rolls and dashes that directly remove you from the path of the "subtle" signaled attack. You're meant to learn and master it. You have GOOD CONTROLS that directly put your character in a position you want. And the boss probably drops its reward drop without needing to kill it 100 times. In a game thats directly about skillful inputs and good reflexes. Meanwhile there's POE: you have mushy mouse piloting with inherent "pathfinding" done by the game and not you. The boss is often off screen or barely visible (die beams) takes up 1/10th of the screen, in an arena designed to be part of why the fight is hard because of mushy mouse path-finding. where for some reason they are very fond of camouflaging the boss and the arena and the attack signals with samey colors. And the boss has a ~1% chance to drop anything that players want. All in a game thats actually supposed to be about gear and character builds and not "are your reflexes Esports enough". "only 10% of players care about melee" - Aesop's Fox if he was a GGG dev "when you die in this game, typically you're getting one shot, you're dieing in one frame; almost always" -Ben_ Last edited by alhazred70 on Jul 13, 2023, 9:58:59 PM

" No but big obvious large visible indicators alla lost ark ain't a good design either. I mean the game gives you either more than enough visual or sound queues, but it's not the games fault that most players these days are heavily spoiled and want the game to play itself. Clearly a skill issue if you fail to follow obvious indicators without big "hello I'm coming in" indicators. Or even still struggle with the already pretty weak bosses in the current state of the game with the large power creep in both defense and offense. All types of games had the same and still have the same combat system of simple indicators and sound queues, so don't expect to have every game follow up with the trend lol. " Game's unfortunately balanced around trading since years so good morning in case you didn't knew that yet. Sucks for ssf but I guess least meta items have a decent value if you happen to drop them. Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun. Last edited by Pashid on Jul 13, 2023, 11:09:28 PM

To understand Alk we need to know the kind of player he is.
1. He is top end elite player 2. He plays mainly melee characters (in this case barb) 3. He only focuses on the bleeding edge of end game content His opinion on the Uber Lilith fight is from the perspective of the barb and to that extent it is absolute dog****. Following the recent patch there is no way for barbs to cheese Uber Lilith unlike the other classes where they deal so much damage they essentially can skip mechanics. He just completed a 12 min Uber Lilith clear following the patch that removed the "bugged HOTA quake" feature. 12 MINUTES. There are plenty of cheap one shot effects that can kill you within those 12 minutes with an inbuilt enrage timer via the crumbling arena. This fight requires serious skill for a barb player. Now is that better than the POE Pinnacle Bosses? I would say that you can outgear the pinnacle bosses and essentially tank a significant portion of their mechanics. Personally I find the Uber fights in POE to be better designed in which there are less cheap one-shots compared to Uber Lilith. But that is because I can outgear the content in POE whilst I cannot do so in Diablo 4 even with full 820 ilevel items. My barb gear is equal to Alk but he is a far better player than I ever would or could be. That is why he could clear it but I would fail constantly. So if you are talking about pro players most would say that the Uber Lilith fight is more challenging. That however does not mean that it is better designed than the POE ones. " what is wrong with any of those bosses? they all have great mechanics
Well Alk can go play that träsh game lmao he has his roots in ponyland anyways.
OG SHAPER is 10 times better then any boss in d4 but my personal favorite is SIRUS Necropolis league G.O.A.T

I dont get this at all.... couldnt disagree with alkaizer more, i feel like people who are saying uber lilith is a good designed fight is just grasping at straws and thats cuz how bad the rest of the game is.
Echo of lilith is just a copy paste of the fight where they increased the boss's stats by 9999%... i prefer the unique boss fights in poe ALOT, ALOT more.
" Not even CLOSE LOL I bully the fuck out of d4 people dude but don't spout stuff that you've never experienced dude that's not good. Shit the only reason WHY I even played was too talk massive shit to it and friends to stop bothering me. It's a completely different fight lol. Eh, I see where he is coming from, I think. The biggest reason is that Uber Lilith is pretty tough, has multiple phases with mechanics to memorize but has apparent telegraphed attacks. The fight is more in line with Lost Ark-style boss fights

The problem with D4 are not boss fights but lack of any depth and itemization.

have not palyd D4 so cant comment on their bosses. But PoE bosses are generaly plagued by poor visibility, unnesecary visual clutter, hitboxes not coresponding to their animation/skills. In general its quite shitshow
