SOLVED: Disconnected from patching server before patching completed. Try again

I just encountered the error:

"
Disconnected from patching server before patching completed. Try again

I wanted to note that this is a poorly worded error message that the game server isn't responding. Here in the website forums the following is posed in red:

"
PC servers are restarting now. They should be back up in approximately 15 minutes.

A few minutes later the game finally stopped giving me the error message.

The problem for many people is that this error seems to cover a lot of possible topics so I can't promise that this thread / my OP will be a working answer. The server may be up though someone may still encounter this error.

So if the forums don't say the server is down go to the install directory, then in to the logs\ subdirectory and open Client.txt.

Example:
C:\MEDIA\GAMES\Path of Exile\logs\Client.txt

Each initiation starts with the following:
"
2023/08/15 18:14:16 1915007890 e4b31b95 [INFO Client 16528] Send patching protocol version 6

Obviously if you're not on the computer that the game is installed on and you're having this issue fix your network connection.

If you are on the same computer and the network connection is enabled check to see if your connection is reliable. In example satellite connections or poor VPN connections.

Often and unfortunately a lot of issues require a sacrilegious system reboot. This is because there are a lot of issues and bad practices in the development communities (operating system wise).

I should note I attempted to use the uninstaller and it did nothing which is lame. I manually deleted the file contents. I also killed off everything in C:\Users\[User]\AppData\Local\Temp just to make sure the issue wasn't some bad temp file.

Most importantly: if you end up finding a fix to something POST ABOUT IT! 99% of "it worked!" replies are garbage where people don't post any meaningful details about what happened, what they tried, what they did, etc. Don't be that person!

Any way, I'm not subscribed to this thread as all I can do is hope this will help someone somewhere. The developers really need to fix that error message to be more helpful.

I had same issue my fix was going into C:\Program Files (x86)\Grinding Gear Games\Path of Exile and deleting everything not the installer and it worked.

So, I got mine fixed. Not sure exactly what I did but these were my steps:

1. From desktop launcher, received patching error.
2. Went to C://Program Files (x86)/Grinding Gear Games/Path of Exile 2
3. Launched the application called "Client" from within that folder, and the patching began.

I even went back to the original launcher on my desktop giving me that issue, seemed to work from there.

Not sure if I even actually did anything or if I just launched at the right timing/magic touch. Idk.

Good luck everyone and I'll see ya out there!!
Delete it from %APPDATA%, There's temp files that are preventing patching, I just fixed this commented in another thread. Make sure you have hidden folders enabled. You can also search Path_Of_Exile while in APPDATA. Path to the files to delete should be %APPDATA%/Local/Temp

This worked for me also! Thanks a bunch! Oh, but for me it was called pathofexile.exe not client.

This saved my bacon. it worked. It's more specifically located in Users/YourUsername/appdata/roaming/pathofexile

Deleted everything there and it is downloading now!

Thanks, this fixed the problem in my case.
I have tried the following ways

- Reset the device (don't know what it does but I'll list it here because it's the first thing I did)

- Delete everything in the path below,
C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Temp

skip all that cannot be deleted

Then it worked, hope this helps someone. ty
i just ran the "PackCheck"-File in the Folder and it worked again after that.
I just had this error after a patch. I right click -ran the game as administrator and that solved
