The people that care that much about gender wouldnt have made it past the acts let alone actually spent money on the game.

Maybe they do it for PoE 2 but I wouldnt count on it.

Nah they already said that classes will be gender-locked in PoE2.

Honestly, I'm fine with that

Ah didnt know they outright said it. I'm perfectly fine with it as well. Its wild to me today what would dissuade people from playing a game.

It doesn't. The twitter warriors who tend to complain about these sort of things 99% of the time dont even consume the product.
I want either bulky juggernaut for certain builds or some slim big booba girl running around. it all depends on build or mtx.

So choices only add benefits.
I swear if they make some maven "Simon says" insta-death minigame, sirus, exarch ball minigame then i wont play poe2.
Male /female characters for every class , will require more time and costs , to create MTXs for each of those characters since each class has their own unique model .

3 male models, 3 female models, you can pick your model and class
boom
Yeah, pls make every character a female. I need my derranged big mommy milky Marauder.

Who cares about the gender of a fantasy game? [Removed by Support] Like Gabe said along the line.. reality is boring, why would I wanna make a grocery list ingame..

[Removed by Support] Die or kill, loot or be a pleb, it allready has everything it needs too

As long as they don't force me to play a fat druid, I'm okay with the gender locking.
Always love these threads, and the constant deluge of people claiming "Anyone who cares about character gender in an ARPG is just a [insert nasty derogatory epithet of choice]."

Y'know...as if the entire gaming industry hasn't been moving towards greater freedom of exactly this sort for a decade or two and Path of Exile is honestly kinda conspicious in its nonconformity. Because whether it's a "hard stop" or not, people do get invested in their characters, and a larger number of people than the yaybos claiming all sorts of political nonsense think are bothered by having to play a specific gender, or a specific (physical, bodily) build, in order to run the character they want to run.

I understand why Grinding Gear is gender-locking classes. It reduces development time and costs, and the team is perpetually overtasked as it is. Getting selectable genders/different models for each character class would entail paying for redundant voice acting (though, given the patrhetic paucity of voice lines any given class has in this game, I'm not sure that's really gonna be a significant cost) and developing a whole new set of models and rigging. It's a thing they'd do only by giving up something else they could have done.

But damnit, the new game was their chance to do this right. They were overhauling the animation systems, models, and rigging anyways - they could've figured out a way to make it work without significant levels of overhead. It's frustrating that those of us who do care about the issue - whatever people may think of those who care - are once again left with absolutely nothing they can do about the matter.

Wanna play a male elemental spellcaster build? Noooooooooooope. The Sorceress is the elemental spellcaster now, tits are mandatory.

Wanna play a female shapeshifter? Noooooooooooooooope. The druid is the shapeshifter. Your chest hair must be [X] long before you're allowed to turn into a saber cat.

It sucks and people are allowed to hate it.

i am genuinely sad about gaming future if that determinates how good game is. and if that is a new gaming generation.........

I wouldn't mind if they made the offer... I'd find it much more appealing to see a scantily clad Templaress or sashaying duelist.

At least it's not super zoom in second person view. I strongly dislike those games where I'm forced to stare at a dude's backside for half the character class choices.

At least give them fur and a tail in that case, damn. Better to stare at a dog's butt than a Juggernaut in a thong.
Patch Notes 3.15:
Fixed a bug where players believed the game was playable. This has been corrected and made retroactive.
Patch Notes 3.19:
Fixed a bug where players adapted to 3.15. This bug cannot be corrected, so we have implemented a 90% reduction in item access as a punishment.

Remember when the Ranger was gonna get exclusive access to the Werecat shapeshifting form?

Sounds very boring and Blizzard types of lazy vs having unique models and voiceovers per class.

No thanks.
