Who here would be willing to forego a whole expansion just to get a AH like WoW has?
No. I'd go so far as to say as I'd go out of my way to try to increase traffic to the game if I thought a boycott was going to happen. Getting people I've never even talked to about the game before into it if I could during that time frame. No AH. No Player shops. None of it.

" That's a pseudo argument at best. For one, most people in SC trade don't use their currency for crafting so it only applies to a tiny little minority in the first place and that tiny little minority has to use trade nonetheless because there is no way to get the amount of divines and other crafting materials needed for high or top end crafting by yourself. Even mediocre crafting projects can easily end up costing 10+ divines with a bit of bad luck. Good luck getting enough raw divine drops to support that without trade. Nevermind the other crafting materials involved. The current league mechanic might allow for that but in leagues like crucible? Not happening. |

" PoE has a very intricate, deep crafting system. You don't need Divines for crafting, but if a stack of them is a bar for you even with trade then we really have very different perspectives on the game. What I said is not a 'pseudo argument' you just don't like to acknowledge the inherent differences between a gold-driven and a utility-driven economy, and that, my friend, is called being disingenuous. The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge.

No, it's being realistic. An alternative use that is borderline irrelevant in reality holds very little relevance.
Sure you don't "need" divines for crafting. You can roll magic flasks without them, great. But pretty much any gear crafting attempt outside of that requires meta crafting at some point aka divines. You might have a point if divines or even chaos were regularly used for their inherent effect but we both know that's not the case. Chaos are used for the map device and divines are used for meta crafting. If you are seriously trying to argue with that then the one being disingenoues isn't me "my friend". |

Literally untrue and tells more about how you play the game than anything else. Metacrafting is only required for high-end crafts, but anyone can slap Essences or Chaos on a fractured base, get a few desired mods then benchcraft life, another resistance, or whatever else is missing. Crafting can be as simple or as complex as you want, and you choose in which way you engage with it.
And that is opposed by... a gold economy where items are only worth as much as what a vendor offers you, or, if it's sellable, what you can get from an AH where you compete with the entire market. I will repeat: dismissing the market perspective is intellectually dishonest. The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge.

" You are basically saying that when d3 was balanced around self-found loot it was enjoyable. How are d3 AH or PoE trading different from each other? Both have bots and associated problems. Both encourage amassing enough currency to buy upgrades because you sure aren't going to drop anything useful unless you win the lottery.
" Throwing dozens of chaos on a fracture base to get an item with 2 or 3 useful mods on it is the POE equivalent to wiping your rear with 10$ notes. Sure, it's a way to use them but it's so absurdly irrelevant that i really couldn't care less about it even if it's technically correct. Call me dishonest if you like, from my perspective to you are desperately grasping at straws here that have no relevance to my initial question and the issues it's pointing to. |
|
That you're being dishonest for the sake of not having to argue the point is therefore established..
Telling me I'm grasping for straws while suggesting to remove trade completely and make the entire game SSF with boosted drop rates is asinine, and thankfully we can trust GGG that it will never happen. The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge. Last edited by ArtCrusade on Jan 8, 2024, 6:54:00 AM

" Because for those who dont know how tocraft its always better to just buy item. Ask anyone on SSF if they hoard divines/chaos/exalts etc in stash instead using them to craft.
" It's also established that you are trying to defend the game by using strawmans/changing the topic. I knew that already though.. Talk about being disingenous. |
