A POE “Horror Story”!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hear hear, folks! Echothesis is here to teach us all about NZ law!

This simplistic view on physical ownership doesn't work, Echo. With live service games you don't buy a physical product that you own. You have a license to use the software. The company may revoke your license to access the software at a moment's notice if you are found in violation of the ToS.

But you know this already, don't you? Why the farce?

And what's with the "they need to add these 3rd party features to PoE" tangent? OP is downright lying about the reason they got banned and you try to piggyback off that? Jeez.

Of course, online games ToS are all written in such a way that players can only beg companies to reconsider whatever comes to the latter's heads. I was just pointing out that bar analogy was not reflecting this sutiation well. GGG may kick you out right after you buy supporter pack and won't even tell you why.

Statement "GGG never hands out false bans" requires generic proof to be true. Statement "GGG doesn't always hand out justified bans" requires a single example of a false ban to be true. I know of at least one such case: my own ban for false reason, and nearly 4 weeks waiting for them to figure it out. So they do make mistakes on this, it's a fact.

To add speculation to fact, there is nothing special about my account, so really doubt my ban was the only false one. So I don't share fervor of some other players here, saying "you got banned, your fault".

And for that, i say "thank you".

I do not understand some of the others' comments. If I thought and knew that i was guilty, would i be complaining so much? - No, i would just accept my punishment like a man and say, "welp, they caught me, i broke the rules and they caught me."

It should be obvious to anyone that i didn't do anything wrong...UNLESS, as you say, GGG is always 100% correct in all their judgments, which, as you've pointed out, they aren't.
Or you were using something you arent listing....

More likely the reason for it.

Going back to the law reference: even then, to get pertinent information often requires research, an argument, a judge's note, and time. It is not just willingly given or an entitlement.

Unfortunately for you, doing it here in public (this could be WHY they don't share all their information....) has dug you a pretty deep hole for your own cause.

That's part of the problem...in a court of law i could do "discovery" and i could uncover what information they have and then determine if i have a case, but not so here....you ask GGG what you did to get banned and they give you three words, "Third Party Software." And any question beyond that gets NO response.

When you state that everyone in the game is using a Loot Filter produced by "Third Party Software", they do not respond. When you ask them what you did, they do not respond.

Yes, i understand that some hackers and such may try to gain information from GGG so they can "not get caught next time", but that's not what I am doing....I'm just an average dude totally in the dark about why my account was banned after 4+ years of honest gameplay.

Well, I guess that is possible. I was told that someone got banned because their virus software did something weird, but then GGG eventually restored it. Could that be what happened to me, yes, I guess so. Or did I start using something else that triggered GGG? yes, I guess that's possible, but I would hope that after 4+ years of loyal playing that GGG would at least look into my case - to be extra sure that I was doing something nefarious rather than some kind of freak occurrence.

but i got no such treatment....just a lifetime ban with no explanation...pretty harsh.
You‘d be surprised how many cheaters deny everything regardless of how silly the excuse, or feign ignorance. After all, you lost something you want back, guilty or not. You complaining about your ban doesn‘t prove anything.

@Echo: and yet you agreed to the terms and conditions or you wouldn‘t be playing the game. I am not saying that GGG makes false decisions on bans. I‘ll take you at your word in regards to your own ban history.
The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge.

After ~4 years of playing POE without incident, on the morning of 7/22, I woke up to find my account had been banned for use of “Third-Party Software.” I use Filter Blade, Wealthy Exile, Path of Building, and Awakened POE and nothing else. Everyone in my guild uses the same programs, and probably 99% of players use one or more. I was told I could appeal the ruling once, so I did, and my ban was immediately upheld – and they shut my account down for good. The only thing they will tell me is that I violated Article 7 of their Terms of Service (TOS.) Article 7 essentially states that it is illegal to ALTER a third-party software tool in order to “gain an advantage.” Well, I did not do that. In fact, I’m not even smart enough to know HOW to do that. I’m not a computer programmer/hacker, just an ordinary dude who enjoys playing the game.

I’ve pleaded my case to POE Customer Service at least a dozen times, but they only respond with a standard answer – “your ban cannot be overturned.” I believe POE Customer Service might be using AI bots, because some of the answers are identical and don’t seem like they are coming from real people. If they would just look into my case further, they would find that some kind of mistake was made, but they won’t. I can’t get through to a human being (with a brain) at GGG!!! They also keep telling me I am free to start a new account if I want to. But without knowing why I was banned the first time; won’t the same thing just happen again? Also, after investing HUNDREDS of dollars into my account, am I supposed to start over with “5 free stash tabs.”?

Anyway, I don’t know what to do, but I’m looking for people who may have a connection at GGG. If someone would just look into it, they would realize that some kind of mistake was made on their end, and then reverse the decision and re-open my account again.

If anyone is out there and can help me, I would gladly give you a nice reward for your efforts. One thing is for certain, I am not starting over. I did nothing wrong. Please put yourself in my shoes. What would you do if you did nothing wrong, got banned, and then no one at GGG would even investigate that they made a mistake.

What a Nightmare!!!!!

This is pretty terrible customer service. Had similar issue with Xsolla. My Credit card automatically charged back a charge and was instantly banned from using Xsolla again. They only have AI bots for customer service that tell you too bad we cant do anything. Would have thought a company like GGG would invest more into customer service than that. Pretty sad ngl. Makes me worried about supporting this game/company in the future.

hold up, can you please tell me more about that? I used Xsolla on the same day that my account was banned. Is that possibly the "Third Party Software" that I was using? I noticed when i did it that the email i got back was a little strange. Most of the times i purchased the points, I did it through Steam, but this time i was purchasing directly off of the POE website. Could that have triggered GGG?

Nah that was when i was playing MTG. Coicidentally they also have terrible customer service and my account was banned for over a year before i got a single response because of the automatic charge back. Obviously havent interacted with that product since.
I figure they probably won't do anything until enough people are getting false-banned to make a statistical difference.
