Frequent crash to desktop; Event viewer points to KERNELBASE.dll as faulting module (Windows 10)

Hi,

I think I am battling the same issue. Not totally sure cause I dont have errors in the event log about kerlebase.dll but DCOM related errors. I have also tried many things including clean win reinstall. Finally downgrading nvidia driver to 551.23 seem to have helped.
Run a complete system scan with Windows Defender. No, not McAfee, not Norton, not BitDefender, etc. Windows Defender is really, really good at catching malware these days.

Thanks again for your advice, but I'm not particularly in the market for this type of generic "check your system isn't borked"-style tips.

If you have suggestions that are pertinent to the specific crash this thread aims to single out, or to getting more insight about them when they reoccur the next time - please, by all means.

But otherwise please assume some basic degree of understanding with regards to general system housekeeping.
Send me your deer-related inquiries!

What a rather rude reply. Kernelbase.DLL errors are typically related to corrupted software, as is usually the case with malware. Windows Defender actually caught a bitcoin miner trojan on my old system that the others didn't catch.

I thought it was a rather polite response to your rather condescending tone. It wasn't about whether or not Windows Defender is the best and only antivirus software Windows users need to have (it is).

What about my response was condescending? I was simply avoiding saying "run a full scan with antivirus". I tried to be specific, because reasons. But have at it, dude. Good luck figuring it out.

Same here, i'm getting random KERNELBASE.dll errors. It's been a week, now it is driving me insane.
I will try to rollback my GPU drivers as others said in this post and i'll come back.
The recent crashing problems are obviously only happening on POE and definitely the management should fix the app, but GGG has been brainwashed by POE2 and has no idea when it will be fixed.
Like the 24h2 issue, it's very sickening that we can't play properly without downgrading windows and NVIDIA over here.

Ok so rolling back to previous Nvidia Drivers version didn't work.
But i tried something different and 4 hours in i did not crash. Before these settings i was getting pretty much 1 random crash/hour with kernel.dll app failure. I don't even wanna talk about Delirium.

First I went into BIOS and Disabled E-cores, Turbo mode and Hyperthreading (14900kf ASUS Z790 Apex Encore) i have undervolt and underclocked my system previously i'm on 5.5ghz after the Intel microcode failures just to be safe
Then i went into Video settings capped my fps to 240 (as i have a 240hz monitor and background FPS cap to 30.
VSync is off
DirectX 12
Pretty much everything else is on LOW/Disabled except Muthithreading.
Then on Sound settings Channel count changed to Low
Is it fucking stupid to "handicap" or downgrade a system like that to play PoE?? Absolutely. For now this is the only way for me to play the game. Hope this is not the case for PoE 2.
The thing is this is the only game that was keep on crashing and was driving me insane.
I hope this helps someone.

If anything new i will come back with a reply.

I have also been chasing this error for months. Performed clean install, updated literally every driver through device manger, chipset drivers, bios updated, permission issues on folders, Memtest86 on RAM, and nothing works. Tried other games and no issues after days of gaming. Seems to be no rhyme or reason and can happen while mapping or just sitting idle in your hideout. I have a 5800x3D with a RTX 3090, and I am really really hoping this does not happen with POE2.

nvidia has driver issues with poe
been an ongoing issue for over a year
Intel issues just added another layer.

had all amd system with no issues last few years on dx12
