Just grabbed a Melting Maelstrom since there are some pretty cheap ones now. Feels like cheating -- as long as it's not a one-hit, I can't really die.

Overall Cold alternative is Ice Nova + Mana Flare support for the endgame (so you actually can slap a better ring instead of Snakepit), but it's a bit hard to scale. As for the wand - reduce cast speed 1st. 15-20% is good enough. Even 10-15% is ok. We are not spammers here, Spark is good enough with anything <0.5s cast speed. Can try to search +3 all but if other stats are extremely good. " Exactly. The only problem here - its price early =) |

I did some Twisted Domains with Frostwall/Nova combo. Easy until I got to the final tier 4.
I was killing the mobs fine but not quite fast enough. I failed 2 of the 4 T4's (due to timeout). So, I'm trying the Spark option. I don't think I'm quite there with gear though. Have most of it but missing Dream Frag, the +3comet, a good chest to replace my 5 socket Morior and a +3 skill amulet to replace my Everlasting amulet. I only have 4.6k mana, so still a but nervous about losing the ES safety net. Anyway, I went ahead anyway (missing a few passive as I'm only level 93), so can't go down the tree yet to pick Dynamism (I changed my amulet to Wild Storm). I have a few questions; 1. Is the playstyle essentially Spark/wall/spark/wall etc? I tried casting spark first then a wall but the time the wall completed, the sparks had already ended. So the only way I can currently get it to work is casting wall first, then burst with spark. 2. Maybe my Spark (level 20 gem and +4 from the wand) DPS is too low? It's only reporting 18k (without Soul Offering). EDIT: Opps. I forgot to remove Potent Incantation and the points up to it. I now have 4 more points, so will try to get closer to your end game tree. " Not sure. I'm destroying breachstones with my medium-budget toon without any issues. Sounds like you are missing damage on the frost wall/comet. If not this, probably some mechanical issues. What about Soul Offering uptime? Anyway, I can help if you show me your build via maxroll/pob2. I also can record a full breachstone run if you need a showcase. ~~~~ I don't recommend to go Spark before you fix your issues. Spark has some requirements to get good, and they are more expensive than making frostbolt/wall work. By a lot. You'd better mention Spark dps under all buffs in combat too. At the end of the day we want Spark to do all the clearing, bc it's not as good as frostbolt at breaking the walls, and doesn't generate as much energy for CoC before it gets good. valqor#0701 said 40k tooltip dps is enough, but I'm leaning to the "more" side. ~~~~ Edit: didn't notice "Nova" here. Well, I'm not a fan of it and don't think it's a good alternative to Frostbolt before full endgame setup. Thanks Monik. I really don't want to go back to Snakepit (cause I have 2 good Breach and a 78% Ingenuity) but now that I've followed your passives for end game correctly, it's working pretty OK.
I know you said (and I agree) I really need that end game but I'm going to try to see how it works with Spark. I did a 10 Chaos trial that was easy. I'll try a T4 Twisted Domain tomorrow. And I'll note down the DPS with all the buffs (passives and Soul Offering) running. Thanks again for all the info, you really are a credit to the community. |

I noticed in the V2 setup there's an extra skill slot open. I'm running Frost bomb just for fun/boss dmg. What would you run to support it? Currently have: Fast forward, Elemental focus, Cold Mastery, Biting frost. Would you do anything different or do you have any better suggestions? Also, do you use eye of winter on your main weapon set or on swap, does the critical weakness it applies get any of the duration from the second set, or is it negligible to even need to do/consider this? Thanks ahead of time. |

" Well, Ele Focus should be linked in Comet for bosses. Anyway, for the Endgame build Frost Bomb is kinda irrelevant. I have Mana Tempest (free socket) and Skeletal Clerics (instead of blink) for Soul Offering (bc I'm running with Chiming Stuff on the secondary weapon set now). EoW ofc on the main weapon set, it has to do some damage to apply shock/lightning exposure. |

So I finally had another Perfect Jeweler's Orb drop today... not sure what to use it on, though. Already used one on CoC -- any recommendations as to which other skill would benefit most from an extra support? Mostly trying to decide between Frost Bolt and Frost Wall.
I was also looking at my support gems and noticed I had been running CoC on maps without Impetus and Energy Retention for ages... smh. I swapped those in instead of Concentrated Effect and Considered Casting and see way more comets now. Lost about 30k damage but the volume of comets seems to more than make up for it. May switch back in some boss scenarios but this feels a lot better, at least for mapping. On a related note, I see talk about using Elemental Focus on CoC and am curious why you would slot that instead of Considered Casting. Are comet impacts not considered hits? I've done some juiced T15's, so far it's going really well.
With all the buffs going, I'm getting around 45k DPS listed on Spark. I think I'll try sticking with this, seems pretty fast clearing. So now I have to save up for a Dream Frag. The really good ones are 100+, 200+ divs. No idea how I'm going to get that level of divs. Someone told me crafting Breach rings is the way, worth a shot! |
