Cold Chronomancer Megathread. Fully updated.

I was never shocking with my weaker gear either.

I was inexplicably shocking versus bosses with "exploit the elements", giving 30% increase chance to inflict ailments versus rares and uniques.

If I stuck to archamge I was going to spend one point in "path of storms" and see if that shocked more.


I swapped ingenuity and second wind this afternoon to check the cd. then, forgot I had done that. 5 maps later playing with ingenuity in frostbomb, and second wind in timesnap.. I think it is WAY soother. I was doing better in delrium/ritual/breaches that way.


saw a 91 chronomancer searing by time freeze. need to try it out properly... also need more cash to pay for the respecs. ha.
I'm not sure if this has been discussed, but you can combine Frost Wall and Second Wind. Now and Again will make it even better. It won't really solve anything. I still have to use Blueflame Bracers to speed things up.

tl;dr: Scale flat damage and crit. Chance to shock can help too.

All ailments in poe 2 are hit-based. More damage with hits you do - more chance to apply ailments you have.

I would consider it only with the Time Snap. W/o it there are better gems to use on Frost Wall.

Ran a couple of 1 minute tests. W/o SW got 35 walls. W/ SW got 24 walls. Right now, walls per minute are more important for me bc of clearspeed. Ofc those tests ain't that accurate bc of short period of time and CD reset RNG, but still. Waiting for a long CD when you run out of them is painful.

I agree on Cold Fireball before Snakepit ring. It is just faster to explode Walls with it than with Frost Bomb.

Came to this conclusion a few days ago too. Second Wind doesn't seem like an obvious choice for Frost Bomb for using on regular basis.


UPD. Actually, need a revision of skill gem links bc of ailments question.

you guys opinions on Frost Bombs vs EoW? I use Cold Exposure gem on EoW, it works kinda okay so far.

Recorded some of today's maps bc I promised to show my gameplay, and, honestly there is not much to see. I'm screwing up at all my bossfights today. Haven't landed a single proper comet for whatever reason. I wish I recorded my yesterday mapping experience with huge breaches and good bossing.

- Ambush on Frostbolt is for more freeze build-up while clearing.
- Removed Second Wind from the Frost Bomb. Added Mana Flare (adds ~600 raw base fire damage on crit).
- Crit Frost Wall for more freeze build-up and shock on bosses.
- Clearing gameplay is about Frostbolt prefire spam and casting walls at enemies.
- Did not record a proper Comet, but it hits up to 3kk on crit when properly done.

Weapon sets have 8 passives difference:
- 1st WS has Moment of Truth and Master of Hexes.
- 2nd WS has Energise and Invocated Efficiency.

Amulet Anoint: Mental Toughness.

Jewels:
4x Recover 2% of Mana on Kill.
Some crit damage, crit chance, aoe, and cast speed.

UPD: This is probably it. Idk what I can improve realistically as a poor pleb. Every single upgrade requires several divines now. And the passive tree is optimized af already.

Also:
- Added Cold Fireball Chronomancer leveling guide from maxroll.
- Removed some negative points on Ascendancy from the beginning of the guide.

Lemme be honest, it's good if done and geared well.

ok... so. level 76 on this sorc... all this time.

I start a witch. play 2 minutes into the intro, and shes given a scepter to offhand...

The Spirit is well worth it imho. whats on a focus? +2 to skills, mana, es, and up to +100 cold damage.

scepter should either be Malice. or skel warrior imho.

But that extra spirit. cast on crit, cast on freeze, cast on dodge, blink. too good. well worth.

malice does stack way too slow. eye of winter hits 10 stacks very fast. so, skel war is probably the way to go. as noted, could be supported with some interesting things. can distract enemies at worst. and can be sacrificed for damage with soul offering. and feed grim harvest a bit.

I thought I was going to have to sacrifice wand damage for that spirit. I'm at 250 now.

atm, dont have the time or cash to really test all the variables. im kindof setup for cast on crit+blasphemy atm. really want to make cast on dodge+blink a thing, since no one else seems to even noticed it.. and as chrono we can cheese the cd a bit.

Hey guys. Didn't post for a while.

I've been improving my Cold Chronomancer variation build and gear. Still rolling Frostbolt, Double CoF (Snap + Wall), Blink and Temporal Rift. EB and The Rapid River without MOM, but with 44% damage taken from mana before life (almost the same as MOM), 50% dmg recouped as life, 20% dmg recouped as mana.

It's not ideal, I guess it's quite slow, still being mana hungry even with 424 mana regen while moving. Temporal rift and chugging on mana flasks helps a bit during bursts like breach or delirium.

I'm still missing 5th support gem slots on my skills and don't have 7th-8th ascendancy points (cba doing the challenge, didn't even try yet).

If anyone is interested in this build, I can put it on maxroll.gg later

Same.

Big. Malice is good enough, it's a passive aura. Offering complicates a bit the gameplay. It's strong, but I'm not sure if it's reliable w/ 4-6 seconds duration.

Possibility to fit Clarity and Grim Feast for ES builds - easy ES recovery on kill that can stack ES over your current pool. Twice.

Opens up a possibility for a better amulet for me, w/o spirit. Like Everlasting Gaze (adds raw ES based on max mana regardless of EB), EG is a very strong amulet for mana stackers. Or those +x to level of skills.

Sceptre stats are ok. Mana, Mana regen, inc AoE of Presense (grim feast, malice, apex) are all good for MoM.

Shield...offers a block and a socket for rune/soulcore. Mahuxotl's Machination can be very strong with 2 sockets for soulcores, up 6-7 times more effect. Critical damage, Freeze build-up, mana on kill all here. A bit hard to beat 120-140% critical damage, 24% mana on kill, or 240% freeze build-up.

I'm leaning towards sceptres now. Need that presence and mana. Not that expensive too.

UPD: bought a cheap 3 ex sceptre to test, ended up with CoC - Comet. CoC is so much better than CoF, esp on bosses. Drains a lot of mana tho, fr.

Tried blink, double curse in blasphemy, smth elemental whatever (>50% more damage with single on a rotation). Tested Soul Offering, still think that Malice is just less clunky. Tried second CoF, but there are some spirit remaining, so no.

Current spirit setup:
CoC - Comet
CoF - Comet
Blasphemy - Temp chains
Malice, Clarity.

Dropped Flame Wall and ignite Echoing node for CoC.

Welcome back. Do you have some mana on kill jewels? Mana drain is big af in your setup, regen won't help as much as on-kill recovery.

Removed boss with 4.5m hp in 1 freeze (almost).
No damage supports on CoC. Just impetus, energy retention, and inspiration.
No sigil/mana storm.
Just frost wall to death with temporal rift abuse. Chrono power I guess.

Hopefully, won't get nerfed.

Im enjoying my cold fireball + frost wall build, but it is struggling somewhat when playing together with my coop buddy that plays a crossbow witch hunter. Oh and RIP framerate and being able to see anything onscreen. The fireballs is eye torture when gaming on a hdr oled screen.


Placing and shattering walls for trash is really suboptimal with a merc just running around and blasting everything. It works great on bosses though, with me turning them into a ice block while he gives them the boosted shock, and then we both nuke them.

I don't really see any easy way to make our trash mob mapping more efficient though, as me having to first put up walls and then blast them with fireball is much slower then his no setup just rush forward blasting. And frost bomb triggers Waay to slowly to be useful.

So for now were more or less clearing two separate groups, but still close to eachother for rares/xp, and bosses are a total joke at T5. Going to be even more silly when we get our third ascendancy points so i can time stop them.


Everythings bloody expensive though, so currently stuck with how im supposed to be able to upgrade my damage, but considering getting a wand+scepter to be able to use one of the cast on for some rare/boss sillyness. Everything on screen is more or less permanently frozen, so may try cast on freeze even though its been nerfed to being mostly useless. that or seeing if i can boost the fireballs even more, a cast on freeze frost wall/fortress could possible be a thing. but at the same time i kinda see that killing me many times over by blocking me and my friends movement. hees already massively annoyed by me dropping frostwalls on him as hes always ahead/at the edge of my screen.
