Cold Chronomancer Megathread. All content cleared. Leveling guide added. Low-budget build added.
" sell it.. they are going for 250+ divines. Buy a Dream Fragments Sapphire ring with an ingenuity belt. Then buy amazing items for all the other slots and get that creamy 7k+ mana. |

" Very impressive run, I let out an "Oh Shit!" on your wave 7 when you went down to 300mana and no ES haha. Simulacrum is definitely the most rippy content in this game, even POE 1 it was such a butt pucker lol. Last edited by valqor#0701 on Jan 27, 2025, 5:09:49 PM

" You already have your answer, it's temporal rift. It's a core part of the build and you should practice or setup an easier combo key path.. for example. Change key bindings for the 2nd set of skill slots on your quick bar to something like ctrl+1 Eye Of Winter, ctrl+2 Frostwall, Ctrl+3 Temporal Rift.. then repeat. This is of course after you've already sacrificed your two minions with soul offering, laid down your lightning conduit ground curse and time freeze'd. Make sure you have everything bound to the right weapon swap as well to make your life easier. Other than Temporal Rift, if you have around 13div to burn you can buy the unique mana flask that refills all of your mana, other than that, we get Temporal Rift and can save on 13d. " yeah I am starting to think that too, thanks mate |

I have a little problem with Soul Offering on 2 weapon.
It like first time use it just switch weapon no skill activate (like the skel did not show yet) the second or third time to activate the skill, but some time just one the spike. For now, I Conductivity on 2 weapon before offering but sometime still no spike or just 1 spike. Orz Also I see monik buff for 21 sec, but I up passive closely same it just 16 sec buff. I did not see the duration on gear set. also support gem did not have increase duration, Or I miss something. |

" If you watch Monik's simulacrum run he just posted, he has Persistence linked into his soul offering. That is how he gets it to 21 seconds. He does this because he wants as much damage as possible for as long as possible while doing each wave of the simulacrum. Last edited by valqor#0701 on Jan 27, 2025, 10:04:10 PM

" The extra energy gain and possible refund of energy is to help clear non unique mobs from the game and keep AOE at a decent size. This is because after the nerf to energy gain from cast on skills, the energy you get from white mobs is lower than that of rare and unique mobs. Unique's have the highest energy gain so you can opt to drop the extra energy gain/refund for more damage. I'm sure you can think on your own when this would be needed but a few examples would be: fighting the Arbiter, or any other pinnacle boss for that matter, where you are worried your time freeze may not be enough time for you to kill the boss before said boss resumes time. This is going to be different depending on your damage. I have no experience on max difficulty simulacrum, but Moink seems to favor having the higher damage setup and less energy gain for waves 14/15 of the simulacrum. Hope this helps and good luck! |

Hey, how about Shattered Crystal passive?
Do you guys think worth it? |

" I bought a rough +4 all equivalent to my cold wand for 20d yesterday, and it's 1% weaker xD I intend to move to Spark so I had to, but it's just cheaper to run Cold =) " 3 points waste, just fit Icicle instead of smth. It's better to run a weaker wall than gut the entire build. If you can't break the walls reliably w/Icicle - you have some problems to fix elsewhere. " " This. Regular white mobs at last waves can be tankier than regular t15 bosses with 5kk life. In short, I swap Impetus-Energy Retention to Concentrated Effect/Elemental Focus when I expect a massive reduction of damage or on bosses. I.e. in the latest Simulacrum video I swapped ER->Conc before the wave 9 bc I saw +50% to ele res and 74% more life. Those 2 mods significantly increase time to kill, but I still was reluctant to put Ele Focus bc I wanted Comet to have more AoE/Freeze, and the damage was fine to afford it. If waves 14-15 have both of those 2 mods (and/or reduced critical damage taken), i'd put Ele focus too instead of Impetus. " Damn, I was hoping no one noticed that xD Anyway, was a good demo of Temporal Rift save xD Other than that, kinda used to this already, and didn't pay much attention during the fight. " In short. Swap to weapon set 2 -> use the buff -> swap back to weapon set 1 again. To make it easier we are binding some skills to weapon sets. The secondary weapon set has only Conductivity and Soul Offering. All other active skills are bound to weapon set 1. Blasphemy and Grim Feast are bound to both weapon sets. This way when you are using Conductivity - you automatically swap to weapon set 2 and actually summon minions for Soul Offering. When you are using any other skill, i.e. Frostbolt, you automatically swap to weapon set 1. Effects from weapon sets remain after the swap. You still will have your Soul Offering/Conductivity with increased duration. Class skills like Time Freeze cannot be bound. About the gear - i've added low-budget gear/skills/tree in my maxroll - follow that and you'll be fine. " It is not really bugged, just mechanically gutted. It doesn't have cast speed but skill activation time which doesn't match summon time and weapon swap time. So, you are using offering before summoning if you rely on auto weapon swap on offering. The best work around - use offering only after Conductivity or manual weapon swap (I bound it on Shift instead of X) About the Conductivity (not really) issue - Soul Offering doesn't have autotarget. You have to manually target your minions hovering the cursor over them. |

I've been lurking in this thread since launch. Learned something today on a discord chat that I thought might be relevant here.
The Invocated Efficiency passive gives 45% increased damage to all triggered spells but only restores the 3% mana back on invoked spells. So Elemental Invocation gives back mana but Cast on Critical / Cast on Freeze procs do not. I was unaware of the difference in wording between the two lines on the passive. Anyway, I feel like I've read here that some people expect "cast on" skills to work with that passive. They do for the damage but not the mana restore apparently. Which makes the points maybe better spent elsewhere? |
