Hard crashing PC locks up
" This is not the issue people are having. Read the room. |

" This not a BSOD. This is a resource hog related OS freeze. So you never get the BSOD. I think you are also confusing/misremembering what userland processes can do: 1) They are less likely to cause BSOD or OS Freeze directly. (Most people interpret this as they cannot cause them directly, which is not true) 2) They can directly cause BSOD or OS Freeze via exploiting vulnerabilities, improper use of System APIs, driver interaction, resource exhaustion. (This is PoE2's "bug") 3)They can indirectly cause BSOD or OS Freeze via hardware stress or triggering a kernel bug. Hi, anyone having problems then try this that I found on a comment section of Youtube. I've been having the hard crashes myself on the loading screens and since i did this little tweak, have been able to play all day today with zero problems. Load the game and then tab out and load Task Manager. Then go to POE2,... details and then scroll down again to Pathofexilesteam.exe. under Set priority, choose: real time and then your good to go. hasn't crashed once since. really hope this helps anybody until they fix the game. Oh, You Don't have to turn off multithreading ,change to Vulcan or turn off any cores and all that messing around.

" If it only crashes to desktop you are fine. The momentary spikes are things your CPU can handle as long as your temp management is good. If it hard crashes even with PoEUncrasher do not keep playing the game. I have explained possible consequences of this on multiple threads (tl;dr: It is not good for your PC). " This has been discussed. Setting something to permanent Real-Time is not good even with improvements to the functionality. Although nowadays for most of the time all it does when it goes wrong is to cause hard crashes at most which PoE2 already do. PoEUncrasher does this automatically when a crash is about to happen, it then re-sets it. Also this is not a fix, it is a workaround. After almost a month of this problem people are expecting an actual fix, or at least an acknowledgement of the problem. Imagine buying something else for >30$ and it is this problematic... I ran POE 2 flawlessly with no issues when it released. Then after I installed the latest Windows 24H2 update I started experiencing heavy CPU loads and total computer freezes when loading into new zones. The only option was to reset the computer and start the game again.
I tried many of the solutions posted here, like removing core 0 and 1 from affinity, and it worked a little better, but it was still behaving unstable and crashing, this time not freezing my whole computer, but I did have to restart the system anyways because it just kept freezing the game after that one crash. Today I rolled back the update by using the "Go back" function in Settings -> System -> Recovery. It practically uninstalled the latest update from Windows and I have been running the game flawlessly again. Not a single freeze. The windows update did something to my computer, it wasn't just POE2, I had issues in my browser as well, like strange issues where when I scrolled a webpage, only a part of the webpage scrolled, and some if it froze. Anyways, after uninstalling the update everything is working great again. |

Using the task manager to set affinity and priority worked for about 2 days for me. But, no longer.
Really disappointed in this. Was so excited to play the game, but I can't keep hard rebooting and trying all these work arounds to try and get it playable. It's the meta-game nobody wants to play. Left a negative steam review that I will gladly change once this gets addressed. |

We got a bunch of internet engineers on here suggesting all random things that may work temporarily for people but bricking systems for others, refrain from trying these 'supposed' solutions and wait for GGG.
Leave bad review on steam meanwhile as they don't seem to care to fix this impending PC lock up issue. |

in risk of repeating shit, is the MOBO bios up to date? if so, is the bios set to XMP for RAM? XMP might not be validated for your vendor.
faulty RAM will lockup, stresstest it =) |
