Hard crashing PC locks up

"
The 2024-11 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 11 claims to fix something that sounds a lot like this - an issue where new threads could enter an infinite loop rather than run normally. Downloading and installing now, will report back once I have some time in game to tell if it helped (though I can probably get a quick guess if it stops destroying other audio while loading).

i wish, i've had that update installed since 11/28/24 and I'm having the freezing entire comp issue
9800x3D
3060ti
32gb ram

Hard lock with mouse movement and music loop but can't close the game
have to force shutdown and restart.

Switched to Vulkan same thing happened.

Switched to DX11 and the game runs now.

It stutters every now and then but the main concern I have
with playing so far is my CPU temps go crazy when tping to town
or loading new zones. It randomly stutters and I noticed it'll go from 50C to 85C. I don't want to damage my CPU so I guess I'll wait hopefully for a fix.

For the people saying it's windows latest update, can someone explain to me why all other games don't behave this way? I don't get huge spikes in utilization with 20-35C increases in cpu, also constant stutters.

Roommate has a 7700 with 3060ti with no issues.
Is there any acknowledgement on this issue? I can't seem to find any and its very stressful having to deal with it.

Yes. It has been added to the list of high priority issues.

Definitely took a hit to loading times (and they already weren't great for me), but no visual slowdown, no crashes, no stutters in background audio, and CPU staying around 95% when under strain. Looks like this might be a fix.

What system build are you on? I'm on 26100.2454, pretty sure that I have had the 2024-11 update installed for a while and still experience crashes.

Yeah, same build. Seems to have fixed my issue, but it's possible there are multiple hard crash bugs or I'm just getting lucky. Oh well, guess if I was actually good at this I'd be getting paid.

first of all, you won't damage your cpu if only your temps go up. 85 is nothing.
second, even if it is windows update, doesn't mean there is nothing wrong with the game. Just helps for developer to troubleshoot this issue faster.
same here 7800x3D
Just had this happen to me again. Going to take a break from PoE 2.0 until there's an update with a claimed fix.

I don't think the game itself can be entirely to blame---an app shouldn't be able to hard-lock Windows without collaboration from some buggy driver or other kernel-level code.

It is most likely the same or similar issue that Ubisoft games have since 24H2

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-health/status-windows-11-24h2#3448msgdesc
https://www.pcworld.com/article/2532669/ubisoft-games-are-crashing-on-pcs-with-the-windows-11-24h2-update.html

GGG should be able to provide hotfix as temporary solution before windows or GGG finds the permanent one.

This problem occurs not only on Windows.
I tried to install Linux Mint 22, the game started and the computer froze.
I can only assume that the problem is related to the processor

- 5700x
- 3070
- 32 Gb

(Linux mint 22(NV driver 550 )/Windows 11 (23H2/24H2, nv driver 566.36))
