Hard crashing PC locks up
Same issue as everyone else - game started crashing to desktop more and more after the last update a few weeks ago. Now it's at a point where it's greater than a 50% chance I'll crash during my first login attempt when the loading gears come up - if not at that point, within 10 minutes of playing endgame (mostly happens during loading screens, sometimes when switching between tabs in my stash, randomly during actual dungeon runs, it's completely random at this point). It's worth noting I am not dealing with the full lock-up and hard reset part of this puzzle, just crashing to desktop. Another thing that happens after most of the crashes to desktop is the game will just attempt to launch through Steam anywhere between 5-10 attempts but it just starts to load but never launches the actual game window at which point it just kills itself and I have to attempt to launch it again. After any random # of follow-up attempts eventually the game will launch again and go back into the ~15 minute grace period before it crashes to desktop again randomly. Also worth nothing I currently have about 180 hrs into the game (I am ballparking but I think the crashing to desktop started ~15-20 hours of playtime back - shortly after the last game update came out).
I've tried too many things to list here as far as troubleshooting goes (from all of these threads and the reddit thread, and even some of the recommended fixes on youtube) including a full factory restore of my 3 month old computer to try and see if using 23H2 would fix the alleged 24H2 issue. It did not - crashed within 15 minutes of bouncing around a few endgame loading screens. Ive got: 3 month old pre-built MSI gaming PC Win11 24H2 i9-14900KF (my BIOS version shipped with the version that applied the correct issue to prevent this CPU from effectively killing itself) 4090 GPU 64GB RAM 2TB NVMe Storage Current OS power plan is set to Ultimate I've tried the following (and still had the game crash to desktop): -Full Factory restore -23H2 after restore -24H2 after restore -Increasing virtual memory / page file size (from one of the reddit fix threads) -Using Vulkan instead of DX12 -Disabled Nvidia Reflex From what I see in event viewer my crashes are 99% related to kernelbase.dll crashes. Also worth noting I've yet to crash in any capacity on this PC in any other game or application that I regularly use since I've bought it. I'm also a systems engineer for a living primarily supporting large scale enterprise Windows environments so the commonplace troubleshoot process and steps are for the most part 2nd nature to me. At this point I can only think this issue is primarily related to the game and all I can do is shelve playing it for now - big BIG sadge as I've banked north of 180 hours into the game and absolutely love it. |

Been playing for over 300 hours since day one, had my first three crashes in the past 2 days.
Don't know if its the same issue as this thread. Can't play like this, lost a few trial tokens. Feels bad. |

I have an X3D cpu, windows has been updated and cannot roll back. Freeze/lock all the time trying to zone into maps. Fired up the game after a week of not playing and computer froze zoning into my first map.
Only thing that has been stable, tonight at least, was toggling multithread off before zoning. Toggle it back on during the map to retain FPS and off to zone back to hideout. Seems to work in my situation. I’ve tried all sorts of combinations up to this point that did not work. |

Whatever they did to the game since they got back from holidays made it worse. I'm crashing again even with POE Uncrasher in the background running as administator, and the game even running as administrator. I don't think I can even continue to play.

" Same here, also tried several "factory resets" (as in, reinstalling everything after a hard format), different windows versions, etc. I work software dev and I am friends with IT on my workplace. Company I work with works with Windows (multiple Windows servers across several platforms, managing customers websites and different software services). Some of them play the game, and they're also affected and did their checks better than I could. We all agreed it was game related and best bet was to stop playing till it's fixed. So that's what I did. No need to risk my new machine or dump so many hours into alternative fixes. |

I think you can all at least feel reassured that the game and its interaction with your system is the problem.
Your systems are fine. Your installs are fine. There's no reason to reinstall anything, revert to older versions of anything, or tweak anything. There's nothing wrong on YOUR end that needs to change. You should simply stop playing POE2, and stop trying to play POE2 until GGG announces a fix, and just use your computer for other things and other games that obviously work fine as-is. This is 100% on GGG to figure out with its partners like Nvidia or AMD or whatever. There is nothing else the consumer can do or is responsible for. Windows 11 23H2 (Steam), AMD 5800X3D, RTX 4070 Ti Super 16GB, 32BG DDR4 3200, Samsung 980 Pro SSD

I would really appreciate any sort of update to this issue as I have not been able to play for weeks whilst waiting for progress to be made.
I would like to finish the campaign before they do an economy reset at the very least. The crashing issue mentioned on the livestream is not the one affecting the many players who have posted here and I would love some update on this issue. |
