It only took 60 pages of comments, but GGG has finally acknowledged the issue in their Known Issues post.

Having this problem as well in both games, though it was much less frequent in PoE 1. Always happens on a loading screen, always requires a hard reset to fix.

AMD Ryzen 5 7600X, NVidia RTX 2060, Windows 11 24H2, latest drivers.

I'll give BES a shot to see if I can at least avoid the hard reset.

Quoting myself as an update: I had BES capping PoE2 at 95% CPU all day yesterday and only had a single hard lockup during all that time, whereas on launch day it had locked up several times. Did capping the CPU help or was it coincidence? Not sure yet, will continue testing.

I was crashing a ton on day 1, and had this happening in PoE1 before PoE2 came out as well. I saw someone who got results in PoE1 by changing CPU power settings to min 98% max 99% which had noticeable improvements. Setting affinity to -2 cores in task manager on PoE2 on top of that has led to me crashing maybe once in the last 24 hours.

On W11 24H2, 4080S latest drivers, 9800X3D

What do your in game setting look like. I tried the half cores and I tried the 90% load limit to cpu. Will give -2 affinity a shot now too.
Yey! Hotifx 9

And now game crash constantly.
Before i can play 2-3 hours without crash, but now it's unplayable, crash every time after chararacter select.

Nothing helps.

Vulkan, think all graphic settings on settings on default except VSync off

I've only started having this issue as I hit the end of A3 Cruel and into maps. It's so bad now, I can't even make it 10 seconds into a map before a full BSOD.

Windows 10: Version 10.0.19045 Build 19045
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 (Driver 566.36 (most recent))

Did a full BIOS update, upgraded to the current version of Windows 11, and reinstalled the game. Can't even make it the the login screen now without a game crash. At least it's not fully crashing my computer with a BSOD.

At least this is helping me keep my PC up to date :P
+1 I've had to hard reboot my PC due to it randomly locking up in loading screens. Seems to have gotten significantly worse tonight, consistently bricking my game completely or entire PC. 9800x3d, RTX3080, Win 11 24H2

Edit: I could just be getting lucky now but seems adjusting the Windows Power Options and setting Processor power management -> Maximum processor state to 99% has helped. I tried the affinity settings under control panel but that didn't help me much.

+1 Not much to do, vulkan helped, will do the CPU affinity, but clearly the game is risky to play right now.
Same keeps happening with me, 5700 X3D and 3080.

Except it does happen on other software and is specific to w11 24h2.

I swapped to windows 10 after this post. Not a single crash since in about 14 hours of gameplay.

5600x, 3080
Finished act 2 and once the cutscene started my pc hardlocked, sound kept repeating itself. Reset button didnt even work, I had to hold down power button to restart pc. This better not brick my windows or hardware. Game plays fine but this happens all the time once a loading screen starts. Never had a issue like this and I play tons of games.
