I had the same issue in Jungle ruins.. but I tried: running as admin change all settings and renderer create new char and log out but nothing worked UNTILL SOLUTION (for me at least) I killed the Miller (first boss before first town) on the new char, then went into the town and relogged to my main in Jungle ruin and left the cursed area immediately!
