It is still not aworking after 0.1.1 hotfix 5.

Definitely doing something now after 0.1.1c. That being said, it is a quite small effect.

On my test, just looking at the gem dps menu, I do a 1000 damage physical damage hit with 14% mana leech, I get single digit to low double digit energy shield leeches. As far as i know, the monsters have leech resistance which goes up with monster level and power, but the exact values I am clueless about. Armour and physical damage resistance are added to that as well. The low energy shield leech values I just tested on a tier 1 and tier 11 map and I didn"t see a noticeable difference between them.

So maybe it is just way undertuned (at least feels like it) and no bug. Seems to me I would need to increase my leech percentage at least 5 fold to make it viable. Maybe.

Yeah not sure, doesn't seem to be very effective. I am playing a light monk, so naturally a lot of damage is converted to lightning, but the effective leech I saw seemed to be sub 1% of the phys damage dealt.

Anybody have any experiences with higher phys damage and leech percentages?

Still not working as expected in 0.2. I did some testing with the consuming questions ascendency note using the soul thief support gem. Here's what the skill details say.

On storm wave (80% dmg converted to lightning):

- avg. total dmg per hit: 500
- Mana leeched from damage: 9.68%

- actual leech applied to energy shield: 4-5 (not percent, total!)

On windblast (100% phys damage):

- avg. total dmg per hit: 400
- Mana leeched from damage: 9.68%

- actual leech applied to energy shield: 4-5 (not percent, total!)
- same numbers for quarterstaff strike.


So what's working:

- mana leech is applied to energy shield
- mana leech works on other damage types than physical

What's not working:

- The amount leeched is way too small. Looks like a decimal error: instead of 10% as shown in the gem info, it leeches around 1%. Could also be the case that Soul Thief is bugged.

Also worth noting, you can't leech ES when mana is full.

So if you get mana back on kill, and your mana is then topped off - leech is no longer in play, preventing ES leech from occurring.

You can only leech ES while there is absence of mana available to be filled via leech.

This is super annoying.
