PoE 2 Honor System explanation?

"
I completely agree with those who criticize this system—it’s flawed.

When I played as a Sorcerer, I didn’t mind the Honour system because it didn’t affect my gameplay. However, now that I’m playing a Warrior tank, it’s a different story. This class is built around armor, shields, and resistances, designed to go head-to-head with enemies and withstand hits. But during the trial’s boss fight, I keep losing because I run out of Honour. It’s incredibly frustrating.

The Warrior tank is meant to engage enemies directly with slow, deliberate attacks while absorbing damage, yet this system penalizes that exact playstyle. Meanwhile, ranged characters seem unaffected, which feels entirely unbalanced and nonsensical.

Honestly, I’ve given up on the Ascension System entirely. It’s just not worth the frustration.

Did sekhema one at lvl 21 with my warrior (shield) - pre close combat buff (ssf). Took me two tries. First try i had 90% phys and -1% fire resists. Almost beat the boss, but he got angry and exploded me ;D. On second attempt i had 90% phys, 48%fire and did it no problemo (no honour resist relics). The more resists you have (honour resist included), less honour damage you take so your tankiness is still there.

Now im at such high honour res + max that even my 0 armor monk can take a slap and shake it off... and he does get slapped whenever I'm politely asking zarokh to die. So far my negotiations are unsuccessful, rng doesnt like me that much...

Don't give up bro, you can do it.
This system definitely penalizes melee builds. The warrior/monk classes should take half the honor damage as other builds, as my summoner witch can pass most of these ascensions with ease.
Cant stand this silly system. I have died to the final boss on a couple occasions, never a challenge on actual maps (death) but a couple bad rolls or a worm that happens to pop up and all of a sudden you're in a jam.

I dislike it vehemently - I start with 4400 honor not sure if its good or bad but I dare say something is messed up as I run chaos inoculation and stack mana/regen.

I can do T16 maps but die due to loss of honour. 40+ mins down the tube every time and its not enjoyable.

I know POE1 was a challenge too but this system is overly complicated for no reason.

Be like Elon
The honour system was created so that your favorite thorns or defensive builds become unplayable and you cannot ascend.
i agree i hate this honour bar system, the game would be much more fun without it. So many issues with it in practice, and it makes ascendancy something i dread having to do, rather than something im excited to get.
You guys do know that Trial of Sekhema is completely optional?

As far as i know DMG reduction should affect the amount of honour you lose but more importantly, you can skip it 100%. Just do the Trial of Chaos instead which is perfect for you if you have a tanky build.

In PoE it is normal that not every content is easy on every build. Builds have strengths and weaknesses. In PoE1 people made extra characters to run the labyrinth etc. It is literally impossible to balance everything for every build and still have build diversity.

If you could not ascend because of that, i would understand but GGG has put in two very different options in the game for a reason. Make use of it.

What do you mean "optional"? Idk about you but trying to get my third ascendancy points isn't exactly something "optional" in how you progress your character.

"Optional" in the sense that you can get your Ascendancy points from the Trial of Chaos. In a future update, there'll be a third way to Ascend as well.

You say you want your third set of Ascendancy points from a 3 floor Trial of the Sekhemas, but unless you absolutely need those points as early as possible? You can do a 10 room Trial of Chaos instead.

The minimum drop level is only 5 levels higher, according to the 0.2.0f Patch Notes.
chm, had 9000 on my sorc, while more juicy Merc has 3600.
Ye, STUPID system.

I mean I wouldn't really call that optional though. Doing either one of them isn't exactly a walk in the park and especially ToC can scale pretty crazily.
