GGG has never really supported nor developed melee. It always felt like an afterthought in POE 1. Clearly not something any of the developers played... ever...

So, naturally the same will be true in POE 1.1 (this game).

Agree that it was ignored and neglected for years in PoE1

Disagree that they nver made any strides.

If you remember the last 1 or 2? major expansions for PoE 1, they did finally cave and make some big improvements to melee. Notably the huge damage buffs which really made the skills compete very well with ranged.


I think they are capable of making melee much more compelling in this game since the foundation is better (dodge roll, more fluid animations, etc)

What if Armour was 200% more effective against melee damage and 50% less effective against ranged attacks and spells.

Evasion 200% more effective against ranged attacks and 50% less effective against spells and melee damage.

Energy Shield 200% more effective against spells and 50% less effective against melee and ranged attack damage.

Rock -> Paper -> Scissors is a lot more interesting than whatever is going on now.
