[PoE2] Blood Mage - Sanguimancy Hexblast/Chaos Bolt - Constant overflow - Stop killing yourself

Ye, it's hard to find good one. I just upgraded to omen sceptre with over 200 spirit, int and increased presence effect. I think I was lucky, because I bought it for only 3 ex :D

Before I found my wand with +4 to chaos I rolled with Threaded Light Woven Focus and 175 spirit sceptre, damage scales pretty good if you can stack some spirit.
i think hexblast can only detonate one curse per cast, how can dps go up with more curses?
I'm not sure about dps too, but it's still nice to have three curses active. I like to have two on Blasphemy and one on manual cast with Cursed Ground. It allows for a quick combo to detonate group of ranged mobs from distance, before they burst damage you with projectiles. Good at clearing towers too.
How is this build going for you so far? Any changes to passives since you posted?

I've been having an issue since 0.1 where my spirit skills all randomly reset when I'm hit by a mod. It's making this build very difficult to play atm.
Didn’t realize life remnants allowed overflow. Now to adjust my tree…. lol

(Noob nowhere near endgame) why not add impending doom? I know hexblast detonates it as expected.
I mean you brick your character by taking the first Ascendancy lol, the people are right. I didn't take anything in the Ascendancy until I completed the third trial (Sanctum), because you get weaker by taking Sanguimancy.

thats my Build, I have 41k tooltip DPS with Hexblast, it works in maps, I'm clearing T14/15 without much problems, but you literally on a timer vs bosses its your flask charges vs the HP bar of the boss.

While clearing maps you dont need to cast a smaller spell to keep your health bar up, almost everything falls in 1-2 hexblast casts and you just pick up the dropped blood vessels. Bosses are the problem where the 2s cooldown to procc blood is not enough to blast.

It's going pretty good. Finally did my 3rd ascendancy (I kept walking into traps so much lol) and I respeced Grasping Wounds into Gore Spike and Sunder the Flesh. It's probably not the best decision defense wise, but it's very fun to walk around with 70& critical hit chance (with inevitable crit support). I crit so often that CoC triggers almost every monster pack, so I replaced Energy Retention with Essence Drain for more damage. So two spells in CoC now. I'm gonna post an update and new video once I progress to higher tier maps.

And what is the timer? Because you have to kill the boss in less than 2sec otherwise build bad? I'm not PoE1 veteran so maybe I don't get it, but I feel like Blood Mage is heavily misunderstood. For me it looks like GGG tried to design a class with unique mechanical playstyle. You pick up the orbs from fallen enemies and it's your fuel to cast powerful spells. Simple gameplay loop. Yet, people are already suggesting orbs should fly to your character lol, like they just want to sit on the boss face and spam highest damaging spell, PoE1 style. It hurts me, I think it's taking away what was supposed to be unique about PoE2. I like having actual boss fights, but ye, I do realize I'll probably die on that hill alone.

Anyway, I like some of your gem choices, so thank you for sharing your build.

The timer is if you can kill the boss before running out of Life flask charges lol

edit to not just meme: Blood Mage, in its current state, just hurts itself more than it benefits. The mana cost outscale your life pool the higher you go. I pay 111 Mana and Life per Hexblast cast and I can cast Hexblast every 0,37s, there is just not enough life leech or life regen to sustain that at the moment. The Blood Mage ascendancy just doesnt fix any problems, it only creates problems atm. The only time I'm on overcharged health is after I kill a pack and as soon as I go to the next one its gone. The % Crit Damage node is bad value, the Leech is not enough for what you spend. And the end game bosses do have some beefy HP pools and after a while you realise you are not fighting the boss, you are fighting your class.

Like I tried to make it work. But I'd need 4th Ascension, allocate Voracious for instant leech which is roughly 240 ex or take the unique gloves Atziri's Acuity (Leech is instant on Critical Hits, cheap but you give up your glove slot), upgrade gear for 100-200 ex (if thats even enough) and probably swap some damage nodes for ES Its okay that you are having fun playing it, I had too, but that doesn't change that currently blood mage is underperforming tremendously in comparison to other Ascensions.

That's what I meant. Burning through whole life flask to spam one highest damage spell is one approach, other one is to play the loop of casting and picking up remnants. But I agree with you, it requires additional mechanical gameplay (which I find fun), takes more time and it's way more demanding and less effective compared to other classes with way more straight forward gameplay loop. I'm not claiming Blood Mage is the best class and has no problems. The point of this thread is to contradict the opinion that Blood Mage is totally unplayable and to help people find a way to enjoy the class, as I think it's very fun.
