Ascendancy Trials in POE2 make the game completely unbearable and unfun.

+1 Very close to calling it quits on Poe2 over these new trials.
Ran a spare sekhema after the patch and wow are they a joke now. If you can’t get this done on a melee character then you’ll need to maybe play something else
Waaaay too many levels of punish, random and unfun for something that's basically mandatory.

I've loved this POE forever and have super high hopes for POE2 but, yes these are pushing me to consider dropping it altogther.
Just because it's possible now doesn't mean that I don't hate it.

That's your flex. You think that all us Warrior players should be forced to rely on spending currency for a bad design decision?

It's people with your attitude that caused GGG to realize that PoE wasn't going to get the new blood they wanted. And now your ilk infesting PoE2 will do the same.

I'm starting to think that the PoE 1 players are probably the most protective and toxic players in any ARPG.

Its bad design to gate keep game progress. Doing T3 and T4 Ascendancy is unreasonable.

Farming up the proper level key for an attempt is insane. Second, the length of the trial is absurd. How much real time do you expect each player, of all skill levels to commit to progress a couple of points?

This has been my experience with T3 trials:

Found a T3 lvl 70 key in maps, I was level 75 with max fire and cold resist. Ok lets do it.

Ran the ten rooms, two floors and made it to the warriors. Killed them both then got ended by some after at or after death explosion mechanic I didnt know existed.

All the time progressing through the trial, wasted.

Ok so I went back to maps, after about 14 maps another key drops, this time it was a level 67, awesome now im even more over leveled.

Ran the trial, did well got to the two warriors and as I was dodge rolling to got clipped and frozen, at max cold resist, and while frozen the other warrior one shotted me, with over 3k shield and 1600 life.

I have no desire to play that game loop as I still need to do one more full trial and another boss I cant practice on, without running maps to farm a key, then an extended trial.

Rather than adding more floors or rooms to the trial, making them a burden in regards to time, having one floor and the same set of rooms, but harder is probably more ideal. In that event if you fail its not an hour endeavor to retry it.

In its current state it only really services the most hardcore of the PoE1 community and dark souls players.

Many potential long term players and supporters are probably going to be turned off and you wont get them back.

This is the only tip I think GGG needs. Keep the game challenging, but let players bring their builds online, want your player base to play your game.

Maps is the end game, getting your third ascendancy should not be.
Took me 2 tries for 3rd Ascendancy with Deadeye after dying oneshot with almost full honor to the final Boss.

However also not satisfied with the trials for a bunch of reason.

1. Started as a Warrior before and it was awful. Obviously not the same for all classes.
2. Even though I only needed 2 tries for 3rd Ascendancy it took me almost an hour per run praying for no crashes. I think this is way too long.
3. From the announcement I thought that I can actively choose which Trial I want to do. For me Trialmaster as a Deadeye went pretty awful although being overlevelled. Arrived in T11 maps I already hope that the invitation will just not drop.

I just hope the third option will save it a bit and they give us freedom of choice.

Same here.. they are so long and unfun. Ascendancy is mandatory and is something that makes me wonder if I want to play anymore. Honor is just not fun as a mechanic.. if they remove this or make it way less punishing then maybe this could be a decent mech.

Right now I'm wondering if I want to try again (first is spending a rare item just to get in and after that play to not get DC or killed by a random enemy/explosion.
As a blood mage and new player to POE, these trials killed the game for me. Getting third ascendancy is critical to the success of blood mage, how else are we going to reliably get blood orbs on boss fights? Blood mage also depends a lot on those blood orbs in regular play and since there is little to no gravity on them, we often have to move into damage areas to get orbs to keep our health up which is something you can't do in trials. I have run trials enough to have a large stockpile of relics and of those I have a single one that reduces honor damage taken, by 9%. I have had runs that ended in some RNG choice that killed my run, and I have yet to see any of the great boons. Lastly, the time commitment only to fail an hour in is really the worst design choice I have seen in a game. This is not souls like, those games give you an fair chance, its skill that wins those fights not RNG. This is more rogues like, which just doesn't fit in a game like this at all. I have no desire to continue mapping when I can't even get my build online, and no I'm not re-rolling the flavor of the week or paying to get carried. Don't know why developers insist on ruining their games, unless that is the plan, get that first cash grab then force everyone out so they can scale back infrastructure to run the game. It does start to feel like this is an intentional play.
