Ascendancy Trials Feedback: Understanding Player Concerns

Well I speak as a new player to the series, never played POE1.

And I say the Honor system is stupid. It absolutely does not resonate with me and feels extremely out of place in a game like this.

The Honor system should be optional, for extra rewards only, and should never affect the success or failure of these trials.

The trials of Sekhemas and Chaos are objectively the worst things in the game at the moment.

RNG on even getting the final 2 and you can just fail to broken hit boxes and the terrible honour mechanic.

Hardly anyone actually enjoys Sanctum, why on earth would you put ascendancy points behind something so hated? You have managed to make something more frustrating than PoE 1 lab, which is really saying something.

I was having so much fun, I finished the campaign did a couple of maps and enjoying my character. I log on today, my builds been nerfed and when I finally get a trial to drop I lose 2.1k honour to a none telegraphed ability on a boss and fail.

I buy a new trial key for 3ex and then the terrible fireball spam from traps hits one of my minions and the aoe from the hits takes over 2k honour off me again.

Please listen to your player base.

Please prioritize the enjoyment of the players.
Sticking to your ideals on what the game should be by sacrificing the fun from players that consume your game is weird at best and delusional at the worst.

patch 0.10e changes to honor is a step in the right direction, but I suspect not enough for a lot of people esp. melee players still have the same problem as before. Ultimatum is unchanged I think? Maybe more reworks are down the line and they need more time. I just don't like the base idea of still being very much alive as a character but failing the whole trial because of honor, esp. during last boss fight and I suspect I'm not alone in this.

Also, I find it a bit counter-intuitive, that to activate some of the gates in Trap rooms, they have the same activators on the floor, as the traps in the 3rd boss room.

And no indication that they're trap triggering.

So, you think it does something positive as it had previously in the floor like, unlocking gates/doors.

Then you step on 1, get shot with 1000 arrows and run on to a second one to be instagibbed by a poison cloud that makes Plague bearer jealous.

Why, on earth, would you have something that operates doors, suddenly be a trap, with 0 indication.
I agree with everything said, but I'd like to add that both of these system have a bane/boon system that generally makes your character feel worse.

Please change the design of these trials.

I'm so fed up and frustrated with the game after wasting so many hours wasted failing the 3rd trial for bullshit reasons.

To make matters worse:

* There aren't enough drops to sustain multiple tries. I try once, fail, and then go back to mapping, in hopes of getting another drop.
* Even if I get a drop, the level has already scaled up with my current one, which makes it feel like I'm never going to complete the 3rd trial.

It's almost like I'm being punished for leveling further without completing the 3rd trial, but it's not my fault I have no tries left...
+1. It's really, really hard to see both trials as anything other than just not fun mechanics. Make 'em optional, hell, lock that gem loot there and at least you'll have something. As it stands, Ascendancy points are way too important to be gated like this.
