There is a table on the wiki listing possible biomes for each map. It is unfinished though.

Something like this should be displayed in game on the map itself. There should be no need to leave the game.

This is BEYOND useless. Look at the picture again.

I had a crypt in game, in the middle of 3 biomes.
It was chicken test time.

Still a guessing game and absolutely stupid to have to open a wiki over and over to guess what it could be, so I am glad they announced today that with the next patch we clearly see the biome on the map!

Problem solved in a proper way.

Maybe it's an ESL thing to not understand a "poke" in the name or whatever.
Yeah sure, if a map is clearly on a sand tile it will, in my guess, be desert but it's not always clear, at least to me.

For example this "Abyss" Map borders on forest and desert. Which is it?

Or this, also bordering Desert and Forest, but which is it?

And what about "Water" Biome? Didn't find any underwater maps yet or anything that I would associate with water biome.

I don't know if you saw the 0.1.1 patch update video but apparently they're adding the biome information in that patch. So soon we will know exactly what biomes we are in at all times.

You can see it when he opens up the map device and clicks on the map to put the waystone it.

There's no guessing, it literally says on the website I linked and it's not questionable data, it's mined/pulled from the game files.
In the upcoming patch the maps will have a label with their biome.
