6 link skill on items (implicit skills)

No, you can 6 Link a level 1 gem but the items behave the same as e.g. skills you get from Ascensions and those are 6 link at level 90. Items just copy this.

It is to prevent you having weapons with 6 links too "early" (For GGGs taste).

This is why i'm trying to figure it out, because there's no clear info regarding this anywhere, it's like voodoo.

Bumping this because it's kind of insane.

I have an iLvl 84 Gelid Staff. I hit Lv.90 on my character. My Ascendancy skill has 5 support slots, but Freezing Shards is still at 4?

So how do I get the 5th slot? I've never seen an item above iLvl 85. If it's going to be locked under such extreme requirements, I'd rather use a Perfect Jeweler's Orb on my staff at this point, despite having to worry about changing my weapon and losing it.

Lv.90 seems a legit assumption. Let's hope for Ritual, Expedition or Corrupting. :P
