PoE 2 is actively damaging PCs and GGG is on Holiday without fixing it - Loading Screen PC Freeze

Also having this issue.

None of the workarounds 100% alleviate the issue. It will crash on me with de-allocated cores, on Dx12 and Vulkan, with Nvida Reflex turned off, with Vsync turned off, etc. I tried EVERYTHING and it still crashes.

It will "work" when engine multithreading is turned off, but that results in an unplayable lagfest. I don't understand why that option is even in the settings at this point.

In my many, many years of gaming, I've never experienced a game that crashes THIS consistently. How this got through internal testing is a mystery. Did GGG even try to run the game on different hardware setups? I design and build software for a living, and I have a TON of respect for the gargantuan effort required to develop a game like this. It has the potential to become one to remember. But this crashing? Come on... it makes you look like amateurs. Fix it.

Use Process Lasso or manually remove at least 1 core through Core Affinity in Windows. Google it.

Manually removing a core has not worked for me.
Happened to me 3 times today already, the last one made my pc not boot up properly after hard offing it and after half an hour of trying to boot it, it started in bios, so yea, bumping this thread
I have just decided to stop playing POE2 for the time being.

On the one hand, I don't feel like destroying my PC. Even if the chances of that happening are perhaps not that great. On the other hand, the constant crashes simply ruin the fun of the game. These hard freezes in the loading screen only happen to me every 3-4 hours of play. However, there are also other freezes and CTD, so that the game crashes at least once or twice (sometimes every ten minutes) every hour. It's simply no fun.

Too bad, the time around Christmas and New Year would have been perfect for gaming.

I have the same issue and as this has been ocurring since launch without no response from GGG I did the only thing that could get his attention.... a bad review on steam.

I hope other people who is having this issue do the same so we can get a response back.
Bumping.

Having the same issue since day 1.
It's really really frustrating.
I want to enjoy the game, so please GGG, fix this issue.
This in my eyes is a major "bug" and should take priority.
Thank you!

There are certain people in this thread and others about hard crashes that love to derail the discussion by deflecting, minimizing the issue, or straight up insulting people.

2)"It can't brick your PC"

It can. I explained the exact mechanisms enough times with decent clarity to the point anyone that claims otherwise is either a troll, or someone who is obstinate. Anyone that wants to double check can run my explanations through ChatGPT, ask a professor at their local university's ECE departments, or hit the books themselves.

1) Is POE 2 crashing an issue? Yes.

2) Is this mostly contained to a certain Windows update? Yes.

3) Can pushing reset upset NTFS if it is writing files? Yes as NTFS is not COW.

4) Can your hardware be impacted? No, you have as much chance of that happening as you do being struck by lightning.

You haven't explained anything with clarity at all, you mumbled on about caps discharging as if that isn't normal.
This bug been in the game for a while and it also on PoE1 engine as well, but people reported it related to windows 11 24h2, there is some workaround for it like disabling engine multithreading before loading into town but it could happen later on on any other loading, but in general the game been plagued with engine multithread issue since the particle engine update from crucible league there is some weird latency spikes problem with the CPU in the engine, and the issue is still in there in PoE2 engine as well, but latest PoE1 patch made it much better.

Same here and I'm only posting to bump this issue. Have stopped playing a few days ago until it gets fixed. Game was fun though.
