Hey,

can you write out the support gems please? Im gonna give this build a try :)

Also what direction on the skilltree do we fill out first while leveling?

Yeah sure I'll update the main post but here they are:

Flash Grenade - DPS

- Scattershot
- Concentrated Effect
- Brutality
- Heft
- Ingenuity (not needed but great for quality of life)

Gas Grenade - Breaking armor

- Corrosion
- Break Posture
- Persistence
- Demolisher
- Inspiration

Oil Grenade - Slow bosses

- Encumbrence
- Despoiler
- Maim
- Magnified Effect

Ghost Dance - Defensive layer

- Vitality
- Clarity
- Fast Forward

Wind Dancer - Defensive layer for evasion + if I get surrounded pinning/knocking everyone back

- Pin
- Lockdown
- Blind
- Life thief

Thank you! Can you also tell us what direction to fill first in the talents? I suppose Cooldown reduction notes first (feels a little clunky at the start)?

Could you also point out which ascendancy order would be best? Thank you

I'll add a leveling guide to the original post! Basically I used Flash Grenades + Gas Grenade + Oil Grenade throughout though, with explosive shot for some added DPS (to ignite the oil + poison gas).

In terms of the passives, I went straight down the tree to the grenade circle for Grenadier (+1 CD use) and Cluster Bombs (additional projectile). They add fuse time but you'll offset that by continuing down the tree to Volatile Grenades a little bit below (-25% fuse time on grenades).

I don't know if you've forgotten the time period between getting flash grenade and getting all the cdr on the tree, but the cooldown on flash grenade is prohibitively long until you get at least all the cdr leading up to grenadier I would say. Now that I also have distracting presence, the skill is feeling really good to level with, but up to that point I would probably stay with explosive grenade as a main skill, or at least have it as a secondary.

Now that I am at this point flash grenade feels godly, with a cdr of 2.16s which is still sometimes annoying but ok given it 1-shots all white mobs and 2shots magic mobs.

I will also add, the tankiness of this build is hard to overstate, I'd be amazed if it didnt get a nerf at some point to undermine its ability to be a primary damage skill. Literally everything is stunned literally every time it can be, and that is by far the strongest defense layer Ive come across while leveling on any character so far.

I'm doing a similar build but with voltaic grenades. Same reason though, short fuze time. I went with voltaic because we have all those lightning nodes. Yours looks great though. Did not expect flash grenades to be going that hard lol.

Yeah I've never created a build guide before but this felt so good I had to write it up.

Let me know if you see any opportunities to improve on it. I've been eyeing the blind immune node (but it's only blind immunity on full life) and thinking about replacing my damage/DPS annoint with another CD reduction.
I added a T17 boss fight video + some expensive gear. I've doubled the DPS on the build over the last 24 hours just via items (without sacrificing HP) and definitely feeling even stronger now.
"budget items" lol, lmao

anyways I've been leveling a merc and decided to give the grenades a try
your setup works really well, thanks for the guide
Hi, I’ve been looking for more defensive Grenadier build and this looks fun. Thanks!
Which bases should I look for armor pieces, evasion armor or ES?
