The mentally advanced people who got their info from watching streamers paid by GGG think magic find is the problem.
No the problem is the breach league mechanic, this is where the overwhelming amount of giga currency comes from.
Map can have 3 rares tops(bug that was never fixed), but breach can have insane amounts of rare mobs.
And since GGG could only copy last epoch, most of the loot is from rares.
So you get this breach + magic find interaction, there is also some kind of bug where it overstacks in party play, but idk about that.
Pinnacle bosses dont start dropping x2 uniques if you get 100% magic find.

Magic find having inconsistencies with different content types is one of the many overlooked reasons for why it's so troublesome. It's a balancing challenge to keep the risks and rewards of different types of content even mildly consistent as is. When magic find gets thrown into the equation things become nightmarish to smoothen out.

What I find interesting is that classes that have the least gear pressure are also the classes that can seem to be the most straight-forward to build zoomy, clear-speed demon characters with. Exactly the opposite demographic that you'd want to give a loot multiplier to.

I think it should stay as a thing one can use to help dig themselves out of a loot hole. To that end, I would probably do something to limit its utility to content of campaign difficulty by perhaps only putting it on unique gear and weighting gambling odds in favor of those items to some degree. If the unique gear is such that it won't serve you well in the end game and you're functionally sacrificing an entire equipment slot for it, that it affects currency drops might cease to be a problem, but simply making is so it doesn't affect currency might also be a solution. Then you can use it at any level if you're struggling to get gear, but you won't completely disrupt the economy.
This is NOT what rarity should be. Rarity is best when it is just another currency strat when you could do any other currency strat and still make profit.
Rarity should NOT be to "dig yourself out of a loot hole". Players should not even get in a loot hole without rarity in the first place. They MUST have content unaffected by rarity that is decently profitable.
PoE1 did this, they made item quantity/quality not affect most league content - as a result players could make a profit without running rarity. Rarity is still very valuable, just not the only option (and in fact it meant you would avoid certain currency farm methods like essences or blight, so people not running rarity actually benefitted from the ones that did, unlike in poe2 where everyone runs rarity or loses out)
The soultion here is simple, we need more league content.
And I have to agree. I love breach, it sucks that I do infact get more splinters with MF then without.
