Compromised PoE Accounts: Stolen Items and Hacked Accounts - Discussion and Leads

This is a very interesting topic indeed and one that I still have yet to see really be brought to light. My heart goes out to you guys.

I'm not very big on YouTube, but I'm going to do my best to create a video just showcasing some of the struggles you guys are dealing with in the hopes that it will continue to shed light on this issue, as it seems it can happen to anyone - including myself.

I'll update here when it's ready, hopefully some time tomorrow.

Theory: when trading, a hacker can intercept your login token and somehow use it to log into your account, bypassing 2fa. What you can do with it? Chat messages are logged in *my documents* folder, so if you were hacked recently - you can try looking at all the trade messages in the log file and find the name of the last characters you traded with. This character may have stolen items for sale so you can check it using trade filter by login. Or he can be inbtween hacker or item seller. Mods deleting all namesd, so hacked players just need to contact each other via private messages and compare the names of the last trades. If they match - it literally stops being a theory.
Also, that mean everyone who got hacked may be hacked 2nd time. But as well, it just theory. If you want to figure out how this happens - just contact each other. Cuz looks like you may dont get any help in the coming weeks.

On what basis is this assumption being made? While RMT could be a factor in some cases, many players who have reported their accounts being compromised have explicitly denied engaging in RMT.

It would be helpful to understand if there’s specific evidence pointing toward RMT as a common link, or if this is just speculation based on patterns that aren’t fully clear yet. A better understanding of the reasoning behind this assumption could help narrow down the discussion and focus on possible causes.

Only way I see it has anything to do with RMT is if GGG is the ones removing currency for thinking is RMTed

Not sure if ragebait or just clown take. Theres thousands of people with hundreds of divines you never heard of. If you have few exalts to your name its just a skill issue.

Why wouldnt they ? You get their cash, you hack into their account and recover everything you just sold to them. Happens all the time to people who RMT LOL. Rinse and repeat with the next person.

Too busy being mad to read. People with inventory of items with hundreds of mirrors, alternate arts, etc who have been playing the game for years are untouched. If there is truly a high risk vulnerability those people would be targeted first and would be wiped clean and they would be the first to post.

Yet here we are with randoms in POE2/New league being hit and not people who actually have stuff worth stealing. Funny how that works.

I have played online gameing since the good old d1 days.......never ever used RMT and this is the first time EVER i get a breach on any online acc i have.

So must be RMT right not a security issue from GGGs side right?
