I'll come back when Jamanra is nerfed.

I loved POE. Wasn't the greatest but I was decent. Played through a bunch of builds, knew I'd hit a wall at endgame, sucked at clearing higher level maps but knew what I was getting into.

One really fun aspect of POE was that you could basically create any build and get through the opening acts, but you had to plan carefully for endgame. But that's not the case with POE2.

POE2 took some getting used to, still getting to grips with it all, some tough but fun bosses, and then BAM. Jamanra. It's not a bad boss, it's just a HUGE difficulty spike that all of a sudden has me searching forums on how to kill it,
Spoiler
running around grinding looking for Lightning Resistance gear
, wondering how the hell I'm going to kill it as a Witch focused on Minions, and after the 40th time through, I think I'm done.

Spoiler
I've only made it to the 2nd stage of the 2nd stage, and there's so much crap to deal with, minions barely last, and whoops I missed a roll, I'm dead again. That's if I survive the stupid minions during the sandstorm, which is hit-or-miss.

Yes, I know, git gud. Yes I know, I should respec and use totally different equipment (that I still can't find by grinding) and change my build completely, and learn his patterns and he's not really hard and yeah I've seen the comments.

The boss isn't poorly designed, but the placement for this level of difficulty SUCKS. So I'm going to go play something else until GGG nerfs/fixes it. I'm really bummed; I was looking forward to playing Early Access for a while! But if a basic build isn't viable through the early acts (like it was in POE), it makes me wonder what other basic builds I have to avoid.

FWIW. I also struggled mightily with the Jamanra fight at the end of the Dreadnaught. (Which I assume is the one you're referring to)

What worked for me was: Running the Dreadnaught and Vanguard over and over for more XP and gear.
This eventually dropped a Jewellers Orb I could use to upgrade my main attack skill and I added COLD BITE.

Jamanra is weak against cold damage and if you can get enough cold, you can Freeze him and THAT makes a big difference.
I'd say more difference than getting lightning resist
Beat him first try with SSF Warrior. So ... dont think he is a problem.
I'm in the same boat as you.

I cleared him so easily on Witch, but then my Witch got bricked around lvl 45, due to the skill gem system letting me slot in gems that don't even work on Blasphemy (but that's a whole other story, ty Reddit for existing or I wouldn't have known that was an issue with skill gems).

So I make a Monk and clear everything easily until BAM, Jamanra's last boss fight. I have high Lightning resist (high resistances in general), good hp/mana regen, high damage, but his HP is so thick and his attacks are so strong, I can't get passed him quickly (as I have to roll 80% of the time to stay alive, so the fight lasts 10+ minutes as I struggle to hit him, even with my high DPS). It doesn't help that my highest damage output is melee and most times he's standing inside his AOE cluster f*k, so I can only touch him with my long distance lightning attack (which is basically chip damage on him).

And no, to future Elite Pro Gamer Armchair Specialists: I don't want to remake a Monk with a different build to cheese him, I just want to play the game MY WAY, which devs said would be possible, but the more I try to play MY WAY on every class (thinking the build I'm going for is interesting and has potential to be busted), the more I realise build diversity was just never a thing to begin with and I refuse to look up videos on YT like a sucker to cheese a video game that is supposed to be about build diversity and melting enemies.

I'll just stop playing and wait for the fixes. It's not like GGG hasn't seen these posts about gem issues and sponge bosses. I know people have been vocal about this.
