They just need to get rid of that spells are disabled line.

I'm definitely with Mash on this one. There are a lot of really good options for melee builds with these new classes, especially on the ancestral commander, scion, and aristocrat. Probably also the vaal architect, to be honest, but I haven't actually done a lot of theory crafting there.

Saying that melee is bad because the behemoth is bad is really losing focus on where the problems are. This is exactly like that one thread where a guy was saying you can't play in hardcore because of a single node on a single shadow ascendancy. Just do something else? Nobody is forcing you to play behemoth.

He is not saying melee isn't viable. He is saying GGG decided to make a balance pass on the ascendancies and didnt touch the spells are disabled crippling node from behemoth.

but how can you explain that giant, behemoth-size pile of crap that is Behemoth?

currently, despite lots of smart brains trying, the only and i mean the ONLY feasible build for it that isnt worse than undescended Marauder is that lightpoacher thing and even that is garbage in comparison to a generic 3.25 marauder build

there is no excuse for this to be in the game


what is also true is that GGG is, and always had been, veeeery quick to fix issues like that Baron thing and Cloak of Flames thing once reddit posts/streamers started. yet i do not recall any case when they actually fixed some melee-related blunder

this time they are going full steam ahead with 18+1 ascendancies

and that '1' just happens to be melee..

if they insist on party-only ascendancy, fine i guess. but if they think that this is fine for solo play than.. kinda lost for words. either remove that disabled spells thingy or DOUBLE the other nodes. like seriously, DOUBLE them.

Without fortify up whats the max phys hit?

Without determ/molten shell/phys taken as on helmet and chest. I dont see how its not glass cannon only.

Why are we wasting so much energy over some changes to, need I remind everyone, an event that's supposed to last one month and will absolutely have nothing being rolled into the core game once it's over? This isn't a balance change that will have long-term consequences. Everything in Legacy of Phrecia were weird ideas that GGG conceived of, yet never pushed them past the concept phase which are now being rolled out as a silly gimmick to keep people occupied while they work on the next league. Of course a fair balancing of the ascendancies isn't going to happen, they ultimately don't matter in the end.

I have absolutely no interest in this event. It's not offering any exclusive rewards nor challenges.
PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.

Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build!

MFers found strength in their Afflictions. They became reliant on them. I am not so foolish.

1. Likely an oversight.

2. If it wasn't an oversight, then it's a low-priority concern over balancing for an event that's meant to be played for fun over the next month then forgotten about.

3. Behemoth is, again, an ascendancy from an event that's only meant to last a month and then be completely thrown away along with everything else. Who cares?

4. Are we really going to be concerned about how something like Puppeteer stacking with the Baron, when zombies haven't been a good minion for summoners in a very long time? I bet you they still won't be able to compare to even spectres, much less SRS or skeletons. Not without significant financial investment anyway, something you won't be able to achieve in a month unless you know how to game the economy.

Its an oversight of course. It could be rectified. I would like to talk to the people that decide these kinds of things to get their justification for it.

If people say nothing then its possible ggg bleeds this kind of shit into the base game. That would be horrific.

Why does warrior/marauder have the trend of downsides. If there is a reason, and im just too stupid to understand, let me know. Don't just leave us in the dark unhappy about it.

Why does there have to be nodes that make the classes feel worse to play when you're working in that part of the tree.

Inc damage taken
Less attack speed (poe2)
hp degen with rage
no spells
-suppression nerfed on gear, forcing you to lose 10+ skill points to get suppression or just give up on it.

we have learned to deal with all the other ones. now were getting another wrench thrown in

Melee has been in a scuffed state since Expedition when GGG got down vote bombed on steam for trying to make healthy changes to the game. Granted, not in the cleanest way.

After Expedition it only took 3 leagues for Casters and Bow users to reach their former damage output while adding a bunch of defense layer nerfs. So they come out with Settlers melee bonuses and player disregard that melee was far below already. Then took away attack speed / move speed.

IMO the only reason "some" melee worked last league was due to Shatter Strikes anoint and Endurance Changes being busted strong. Two reliable defense layers when most others were taken.

Oh, we also lost a lot of melee reach during all that.
