Game freeze with map reset
Just had the same happen at the final sanctum boss.
Screen froze right then went black with the turning gears animation. Then everything unfroze but I still had the black screen. I heard the boss doing the time freeze mechanic and the game crashed. Logged back in and the sanctum was gone. The performance is so much worse than last league, not sure what changed. I switched to Vulkan now, maybe it fixes those crashed but I get them about every 20-30 minutes. |

Simply reroll to the previous driver (one click in Device Manager) and ignore the message in the menu that the driver is not up to date. I haven't had any problems since. It seems to be some kind of problem with the current Nvidia GameReady drivers and certain systems. It's unbelievable how some people complain without any sense here...

have the same problem(dx12), 0.3 is far worse than 0.2 for me
9800x3d 4090 64gb ram switched to vulkan so far no issue anymore |

I have this issue in 0.2, it happened once every 4 to 5 maps.
Now in 0.3, it happens in EVERY MAP and even if I press "pause" most of the time, the game does not pause and i end up getting killed. This is frustrating as hell, I can't even level up properly in end game, I'm stucck around lvl 80 because I lose too much xp due to this bug. I tried every solution I found on redit and here but nothing works for me. GGG, please aknowledge this issue, the game is becoming unplayable for a lot of player. |

As suggested by a friend, i setted up the "VULKAN"
It seems to be a little better, not because the problem is solved, but because by doing this, the game insta PAUSE. It is possible to pause the game, ALT+TAB and kill the process with the Task Manager and you can start again the PoE launcher and find yourself in the same position you were before quittingm with the game paused in grace period. I still lose the minimap. The good thing, as I said, is that the games pauses. Before it was a pain in the ass, because after the 10-15 seconds of freeze, the game started again and I couldnt see shit because i only saw the black screen with GGG's Gears rolling when a new area is loaded. That was really a big problem, because I could hear the monsters hitting me and even if i tried to pause the game, it just didnt. So, for whoever is facing this problem, i suggest very hard to put the Vulkan graphic setup. |

Same problem here, started in 0.2 and followed me in 0.3. I switched to Vulkan today, i'll keep you updated if it somehow solve the problem or not. Very annoying when this happens every map.
About the conditions of appearance, well this can be caused when you have lots of mobs on screen and lot of effects to load but also when you are all alone in the map, just moving to grab loot. It doesn't look like a problem of GPU overuse that would cause the driver to fail or to reboot. |

I switched to Vulcan but still had the issues... until I switched from Windowed Borderless to Fullscreen, after which the issue has not occurred again. However Vulcan seems to have worse fps/performance for me in general. But at least the crashes are gone...

At least since they are catching the issue and trying to handle it gracefully, can they please force pause the game (at least for solo people)?
This happening once every other map typically in the Abyss fissures with a screen full of mobs, resulting in guaranteed death. Bringing up the game menu with esc rarely pauses. Edit: Put it in fullscreen as opposed to windowed fullscreen, got the freeze and instead of the gear icons showing up with map fog of war resetting, the client crashed and I relaunched loading into my hideout, lost 5% exp and my Omen of Amelioration had been consumed. Same problem after upgrading to 5060 TI.
Setting shadercache to 100 gb doesn't help :( |
