TalkativeTri's Podcast with Jonathan Rogers
Genuine agreement, trade site is BS, dated and died with EQ- It is 2025. A single person's vision is clouded with ignorance and selfishness. Gaming is to be for everyone or an audience of more than one. Trade site alone excludes a majority of the interested audience.
Excuses were made for why we have it rather than an AH or market, if a group of creators is so incredibly talented they can create a game online then they are at least stupid enough to realise an AH would enhance the game. |

I just got around to watching this and my mind is blown. The level of detail Jonathan goes into - from the philosophy of an idea all the way to the execution - is just outright impressive. This interview gave me so much confidence that whatever these guys do to the game, it's going to be with intention and purpose. The dude loves his game and he's pouring everything he has into it, you can tell.

Where is 0.2.1?
Are all human resource in POE1? |

" The example you cited is very inappropriate. GGG's human resources and capabilities are simply no match for SE's. Small companies do deserve a chance, but so far, the results of this opportunity don't look good. Even a small update like 0.2.1 has been repeatedly delayed. The promised bi-monthly alternating updates for the two games have become highly unlikely to achieve. The end result is likely to leave all players of both POE1 and POE2 dissatisfied. |

there are other companies that I could have used as an example, but I picked SE because when FFXI launched, everyone said it was the end of SE, that there was no way they would be able to maintain FFXI and still be able to put out new games, when FFXIV launched (in its original state 1.0) the same nah-sayers came out of the wood work saying it was the end of SE making new games, and FFXI was as good as dead, because noone would be willing to wait for new content if XIV was getting new content more often, and there was no way they'd be able to put out new games, but time proved those people wrong, XI and XIV are two of the biggest MMOs on the market (well XI not so much anymore, but thats just because its early game is kinda blah, so its hard to attract new players) really I just find it odd that so many people are telling GGG to abandon PoE or abandon PoE2 just because they havent worked out the bugs on getting updates out between the two games, and honestly when SE launched XIV it was considered "small" as far as AAA game developers goes... hell there are still people who say that SE should sell the rights for XIV and XI to a "better" company despite the players of both games loving them to no end... I've been around the FF MMO scene since XI launched and when XIV Launched, I stuck with it, despite it being a horrible launch, it took them a while to get things picked up and it actually required them completely redesigning and rebuilding the game from the ground up, but my point is that people claimed SE couldnt do it, and keep releasing new games, and people still claim that SE cant do it, if a new XIV patch doesnt come out at least 3 times a year, and a new expansion at least once every 2 years there is someone on the forums or in game chat screaming its the end of the game and that SE should just abandon it, or sell it to a "bigger" company... not a lot can compete with SE at this point to be honest, they are one of the biggest at this point, but people still whine and complain.
