Will not launch
Hello,
I have been unable to launch path of exile 2 for over 4 days now. I have attempted all fixes available online with no success. I have looked through threads on the support page to no avail. To help understand my attempts I have tried I will list my attempts below. -Restarted my PC. Performed a hard reset pulling all power for 5 minutes. -I have uninstalled the game and steam both. -I have used Steam's File Checker to scan for corrupted files and it found none. -I have verified my graphics driver is up to date and even re-installed the latest version. -I have plenty of memory available and my PC well exceeds the system requirements. -I have went to the files and deleted the config and cache as recommended by a thread. -I have allowed the pathofexile.exe access through my firewall as well as completely turning off my firewall. -I have shutdown all possible operations to ensure I was not overloading my system. I had plenty of space anyway but I still wanted to make sure. I also made sure I have plenty of SSD storage as well by clearing all my steam games. -I have tried running it as administrator. -I have verified my OS is up to date. I am sure there are things I am missing since I have fought this for a bit now but I just wanted to give a list of some things I had tried to help narrow down issues. The game just does not start. I hit play and it starts to launch then goes to a window mode, which I have never played it in, and then crashes back to my home screen. I had one successful attempt to launch the game for a brief period. I had went to properties and found a auto backed up version which I reverted to. After doing that the game launched for a brief period and I was able to get into my character and everything. However, the game was extremely laggy and having to load frequently. The game was still stuck in a windowed mode. I tried to change it from windowed back to full screen in the settings and it immediately crashed. I am no wizard with PC. I have only been part of the community for roughly a year but never experience any issues like this. I have no issue with any other game on the steam platform or other platforms. They all launch correctly without issue. I last played the game on 8/2 and logged off as usual with no issues. I went to launch the game on 8/3 and these issues began. My drivers last updated on 7/31 so I do not believe them to be the issue since I played following that update. To my knowledge I do not remember my Path of Exile 2 updating between that time either. Please let me know what I can do to get this game back up and running. I enjoy the game and would definitely like to get back to playing before the season ends. Below are my PC specs to help verify performance. GPU - Geforce RTX 4080 Super CPU - AMD Ryzen 9 7900x 1000w power supply 32gb ddr5 ram Hope this helps narrow down possible issues and hope to hear from you all soon. Please attempt to run the game, wait to ensure it has finished attempting to start and the process has quit, and then find the Path of Exile file called LatestClient.txt. You can open this with Notepad - save the entire thing on Pastebin, and then post a link to the file here in the thread.
The Steam client on Windows will store that file here; %ProgramFiles(x86)%\Steam\steamapps\common\Path of Exile\logs (just copy 'n' paste that into File Explorer's address bar) Does Windows Event Viewer show any incidents at the time of you last trying to run the game? If you haven't already, could you try another game and let us know whether it works? Ideally not PoE 1 - just any game by a different studio, as it'll be using a different game engine. |

I done as shown below but when trying to find the file it stated that windows could not find it. I made sure that everything appeared as instructed after copying and pasting.
The event viewer showed no incident besides event 1000, application error. All other games launch with no problem. I have tried games from Steam as well as epic games and xbox app and have had no issues. |

Okay then, let's try something else;
That should take you to the main Path of Exile directory. Can you see a folder called "logs" ? |

Yes a folder titled logs is available

Please open the folder and you should find the LatestClient.txt file there.

I followed the steps provided earlier. starting the game and letting it run. I then copied the file from notepad to pastebin. I have copied the link below.

"Can you clarify "auto backed up version"? Are you using OneDrive to back up your Documents folder where the poe2 config files are saved? "It looks as if the game is trying to launch from your AMD Processor's integrated GPU and not your 4080. Make sure your poe2_production_Config.ini is set properly: Open this file path: Documents > My Games > Path of Exile 2 Edit this file in notepad: poe2_production_Config.ini Ctrl + F (to search for this line and see if it says your 4080) adapter_name= In the Nvidia app make sure your PhysX GPU is set to your 4080 and not "auto" Verify that poe 2 is set in windows to utilize the 4080: Win Key > Graphics > Add an app > PathOfExile.exe Win Key > Graphics > Add an app > PathOfExilesteam.exe Make sure this is from the poe 2 installation folder as for some reason Nvidia will recognize them as the same executable. I have the Nvidia app set to my 4080.
I went into the config file but when opening the file it has nothing in it. the part about windows, I found the section to add an app but could not find the 2 files you listed to be able to add them. Not sure if I just looked in the wrong place or what. I typed the files into the search bar as well but I just couldn't find them. That could be an error on my end though but I just could not find PathOfExile.exe or PathOfExilesteam.exe. |

Forgot, the backup was available in properties under previous versions. I tried it a while ago when the issue first started because I thought maybe a file had corrupted and hoped it would fix it. I have since uninstalled and reinstalled. Hopefully I didn't make things worse by doing so.
