Solid suggestion on reddit for once: Prevent gold cheesing for botters

Maybe there's a chance of this getting read if it's in both places. Last edited by Immoteph#2974 on Aug 21, 2025, 4:04:50 PM Last bumped on Aug 25, 2025, 3:11:42 PM

+1, great solution to preventing the trade of gold between accounts.
I would take it a step further though, it shouldn't be a 90% reduction in gold, it should be 100%. Any item traded between players gets sold to vendors for 0 gold. |

just remove gold, introduce some 'valor' or w/e for killing mobs. do people actually farm gold by selling items anyway?
edit: better yet, convert all gold cost to experience cost, pay with your xp bar lol Last edited by AintCare#6513 on Aug 21, 2025, 4:09:40 PM

Might want to look at reducing the gold value of maps, as those are the primary way to easily get gold without having to actually run maps.

" Pretty sure people would start buying uniques in masse instead ahah. A second-hand tag on items is actually a decent idea. But even then, sooner or later there will probably be a way for people to pay for "gold service" as it already exists in poe 1 |

" Or better: make gold tradeable like any other currency (like it was in "Ruthless with Gold") and add some playtime-depended currency (maybe based on exp) to pay fee for trading. |

+1
Adding a 2nd Hand Vendor Value Penalty to traded items would completely kill bot networks that funnel all their loot to one account to accumilate gold we need this! |

" selling bad waystones is actually a good source of gold, people were happily trading 1 div in bad ws worth ~500k gold if i remember correctly |

This is an excellent idea.

I cant imagine GGG hasn't thought of this problem.
having a complete separate database for traded items to vendor for 0 gold seems needlessly complex when they could just set gold cost to buy an item as always higher to vendor said item. |
