Solid suggestion on reddit for once: Prevent gold cheesing for botters

"
I cant imagine GGG hasn't thought of this problem.

having a complete separate database for traded items to vendor for 0 gold seems needlessly complex when they could just set gold cost to buy an item as always higher to vendor said item.

They don't need a separate database to do so... It can be a flag on the item itself. I don't see how this can be complex since each item has it's one unique ID for tracability.

It would just be an additional property of the item class, basically an additional field in a table of the database.

When the item is traded to another player, they simply change the value of the boolean and the gold value is always 0 if it was traded.

This is actually probably very easy to program, but is it really desirable.

The part that would require programming the most in this scenario is the interaction with the NPC that is buying your item to check on that boolean first and if it's set to true then the price is 0, otherwise go with the normal routine.

well even a additional simple flag check would put more strain on the servers, which needs all the help they can get lately, so I still think having it so items are gold priced in such a way that makes it impossible to gain gold through aysc trade is the simplest solution.

I do wonder if GGG might be forced to do away with the current direct player to player trade if enough players are still listing high gold value uniques off the marketplace that the bots trade for just to get gold to sustain operations.

at the very least they might add a gold cost to all trade regardless of how it is done.
Sounds good +1
*actually ignore this one*

Selling value in gold of all items should be low like in LE. This type of workaround to farm gold from buying items to sell to vendors should not even be a thing.

Why not, sounds reasonable. +1
I'm not fully informed in this topic, but I like the idea.
