Enable 32:9 Ultrawide - Black Bars in 2025? (Please!)
Hi GGG,
I'm writing to request that you reconsider enabling 32:9 ultrawide support in Path of Exile 2. Currently, the game supports up to 21:9, but artificially restricts 32:9 displays, which is frustrating for those of us who've invested in these monitors. I understand the stated reasoning is about "unfair advantages" in races, but I'd like to respectfully challenge this logic: 1. Racing is an extremely small part of the game Let's be honest - what percentage of the playerbase actively participates in competitive races? 0.1%? Maybe less? Why should the entire playerbase with 32:9 monitors suffer for an edge case scenario? 2. The "advantage" argument is inconsistent If wider FOV is such a game-breaking advantage, anyone serious about racing could just buy two cheap 27" monitors and achieve the same result. The barrier to entry is minimal. By this logic, should we also: - Cap framerates because 240Hz monitors give an advantage over 60Hz? - Throttle CPUs because better processors load zones faster? - Restrict graphics settings because lower settings might show mechanics more clearly? Where does it end? 3. Third-party tools already enable it The fact that unofficial tools can unlock 32:9 support proves the game can handle it technically. I don't want to use third-party tools and risk my account, but it's frustrating knowing the capability exists but is artificially locked. 4. It's 2025 32:9 monitors are becoming more common. Supporting modern display formats should be standard, not something we have to beg for. I'm simply asking that you trust your players to make their own hardware choices. If someone wants to race competitively, let them decide if 32:9 helps or hurts (the peripheral distortion might actually be a disadvantage in some scenarios). Please consider enabling full 32:9 support. Those of us with these monitors just want to use them as intended without black bars. Thank you for considering this request. This game is not design for that. Also Ultrawide screen for ARPG (sorry, Souls ARPG) is problematic for developers.

Simple solution: You can't participate in the race when you enable 32:9. So when logging in on your character, it checks if you have enables 32:9. If that's the case, the game will ask you once to change the settings, or your character will not be included in the race. If that's the case, I wouldnt mind this option.

" Sure having a better immersion is not meant for gaming ? :D " There is not a single reason to not enable it, even mods enable it. " Exactly! - Thats how it should be! " I see - any other ARPG or game after 2020 supports Ultrawides but its just not the "Vision" huh ? |

" I'm pretty sure they can do something like that But seeing replies actively asking for this option to not be included in the game is just so weird to me, there's a huge part of the poe community that actively gets out of their way just to disapprove a suggestion that doesn't even affect them, it's insane I guess that's the price you pay when you make a deep and complex game, you're bound to attract that kind of people Last edited by Vyend#2601 on Aug 24, 2025, 7:10:11 PM

" it would affect them. that resolution lets you see monsters before they react to the player,GGG has stated like that in the past. they would have to make to change that and ppl without that field of you would really get offscreened from monsters they didnt even know exist. currently "offscreening" only happens,if you have triggered the monster before. it would create a real problem |

" If people with 32:9 couldnt participate in the race, how the hell would that affect you? 99% of the players play single player anyway and as long as they can't participate in races, I dont see how your game gets spoiled because someone else has a bigger screen. |
