The "TRIP" mechanic is the dumbest thing I've seen in a video game.

"
I don't buy the cope that its to prevent running past enemies. It controls awful and you move like a tank. Most of the time I get tripped up using the sprint "as intended" when trying to move between packs and get lightly tapped by a random attack coming from offscreen.

I remember reading that it's useful for backtracking because that's certainly something people do. But the handling is super bad, no power steering, and with so many layouts and corners, objects, doorways, it's not very practical to be so vulnerable and getting snagged, lack of steering, and obstructed all at the same time.

Except, you're NOT using it as intended.

Hey Jonathan, movement skills were a win, stop quadrupaling down on bad decisions.

Quite frankly, I'm glad they're going this route. They're trying to not let player speed fly out of control like it did in PoE1. I don't think we should be trying to clear maps in under a minute, nor should it be the meta, and Jon seems to agree.

If you wish to stop getting knocked down, then pay attention to where you're going.
PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.

Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build!

Many ways to do this without introducing the stupid sprint/trip mechanic.

You must not to do high end content, sprinting is non-existent.

What do you consider to be high end content? I farm 6mod T15 maps constantly and bounce between juiced Expedition or Abyss. I've run citadels and anomaly maps with T16 waystones.

The only thing I don't do is the temple room snake strat.

So, if you're not meant to use it to move between packs after clearing a group through the big pointlessly empty maps, then I suppose according to you you are only meant to use it to move through a completely empty cleared map then? Gotta LOVE driveby replies.

I hate it to but it took me like 40h to find that there was a sprint, i find the game fine without it so I don't mind. I just don't like that sometime it start sprinting cause I holded dodge roll for a fraction of second to much.
For people saying it's a skill issue - it isn't a skill issue when I have headhunter and I'm running around the map with absolutely no mobs around me and then out of nowhere I get teleported backwards into an alley with a group of monsters who then trip me because I was sprinting and then I get swarmed and die. That's an issue
Don't use items that can kill you if the build can't compensate.

+1, even if i found the tripping to punishing the hh and ritualist are a risk to take in consideration. It's really really strong so you cant complaign of one negative counter part.
