What's the point of spending 100s hrs building your character to eventually ditch it?!
" Lol.....not only did I say I was wrong to agree with the "deleted" comment, but its also RIGHT THERE in black and white from the developers themselves. Your characters will NEVER be migrated to standard. Man....its like the folks that complain about their character not working after balance changes and how "unacceptable" it is.....when that is precisely what they signed up for and its literally right there in the print. A "playable" EA league, in the way you are thinking of it, is wishful thinking. "Playable" in this case probably means you can log in to see your character....but you probably won't be able to run maps, you won't be able to play content, you won't be able to start new characters, you won't be able to use half your items, etc. Better to prepare yourself now, than play dumb and try to attack other players that have listened and also experienced this before. In fact, the FAQ doesn't even say the characters will "still be playable" in the EA league........it merely says they will "still exist". Still exist implies playable. If it meant void league Im sure it would say that.

" It actually does not imply that. Void league characters still exist. They show up on your character sheet, and still take up the space of a character. Their gear remains visible on your account page, and their data can be imported or exported. But they cannot be played. The only meaning behind "still exist" in PoE is that the character is simply not deleted or wiped. That's why this is in direct response to "your characters will NOT be erased". It's the same language used in every event (and valdo maps) that has ever happened in the history of PoE where a character is sent to the void. They will still exist, but are no longer playable. They would need to explicitly state "your character will be deleted" if that was the case, because that would be a NEW action taken. The opposite of "deleted" is "exist", it neither implies nor guarantees playability in any way. While this is a speculation that I certainly can't be 100% sure of, I would assume that the EA league which will be "formed" after EA ends will function exactly like a void league, but receives its unique name as a commemoration or trophy, rather than an illustration of a different function. The league title itself serves as a trophy for those characters who are in it, for those who care about their beta characters. But from a "common sense" standpoint: it wouldn't make sense for them to maintain a separate realm for beta characters ONLY to actually play in....given that there would be no trade, no new characters, no purchases, no trade, basically nothing at all "active" within that realm. when they could just as easily migrate them to standard. As such, the specific decision and description that these characters will "never be in standard" is actually an implication that they will NOT be playable. And the rationale behind all of this is simple: EA is a testing ground. That's it. Once the full game gets released, the testing ground becomes obsolete. They could delete it or "freeze" it, but migrating it defeats the purpose of a "full release". It would cause quite a commotion among new players if they happen to join Standard at full release and the market and fully formed characters over the course of a year or longer have already left a permanent mark on it. Honestly there's zero reason to continually exclude Standard for months on end. Let the greasy speedrunners have their league setting for a week or two and then implement it wholesale.
