What's the point of spending 100s hrs building your character to eventually ditch it?!

Instead of admitting they had erred, the disinformation continues for another off-topic page.

I wouldn't be surprised to see EA toons eventually migrated into Launch's Standard after the first 2 leagues are out. It's more plausible than the baseless nonsense being pulled out ITT.

Lol.....not only did I say I was wrong to agree with the "deleted" comment, but its also RIGHT THERE in black and white from the developers themselves. Your characters will NEVER be migrated to standard.

Man....its like the folks that complain about their character not working after balance changes and how "unacceptable" it is.....when that is precisely what they signed up for and its literally right there in the print.

A "playable" EA league, in the way you are thinking of it, is wishful thinking. "Playable" in this case probably means you can log in to see your character....but you probably won't be able to run maps, you won't be able to play content, you won't be able to start new characters, you won't be able to use half your items, etc.

Better to prepare yourself now, than play dumb and try to attack other players that have listened and also experienced this before.

In fact, the FAQ doesn't even say the characters will "still be playable" in the EA league........it merely says they will "still exist".

Still exist implies playable. If it meant void league Im sure it would say that.

It actually does not imply that. Void league characters still exist. They show up on your character sheet, and still take up the space of a character. Their gear remains visible on your account page, and their data can be imported or exported. But they cannot be played.

The only meaning behind "still exist" in PoE is that the character is simply not deleted or wiped. That's why this is in direct response to "your characters will NOT be erased".

It's the same language used in every event (and valdo maps) that has ever happened in the history of PoE where a character is sent to the void. They will still exist, but are no longer playable.

They would need to explicitly state "your character will be deleted" if that was the case, because that would be a NEW action taken. The opposite of "deleted" is "exist", it neither implies nor guarantees playability in any way.

While this is a speculation that I certainly can't be 100% sure of, I would assume that the EA league which will be "formed" after EA ends will function exactly like a void league, but receives its unique name as a commemoration or trophy, rather than an illustration of a different function. The league title itself serves as a trophy for those characters who are in it, for those who care about their beta characters.

But from a "common sense" standpoint: it wouldn't make sense for them to maintain a separate realm for beta characters ONLY to actually play in....given that there would be no trade, no new characters, no purchases, no trade, basically nothing at all "active" within that realm. when they could just as easily migrate them to standard. As such, the specific decision and description that these characters will "never be in standard" is actually an implication that they will NOT be playable.

And the rationale behind all of this is simple: EA is a testing ground. That's it. Once the full game gets released, the testing ground becomes obsolete. They could delete it or "freeze" it, but migrating it defeats the purpose of a "full release". It would cause quite a commotion among new players if they happen to join Standard at full release and the market and fully formed characters over the course of a year or longer have already left a permanent mark on it.

The depressing part about this game, is the fact that you will eventually ditch your character for a new league after spending 100s of hours tuning and tweaking your build for perfection, then you realize that all your work were aimless and worthless.

I really can't understand what's the point of such system in these games! (same as Diablo 4). you are missing a great potential.

POE 2 team, you truly made the best RPG here, but to me its a game that I will enjoy once, maybe twice, then delete. There is no point of repeating same game (leagues) with little changes and enemies in new skins, and spend 100 more hrs to make the best character, for what? Take photo with it then delete... really?!

Please don't tell me that I can still play in the standard world, because no one is online there.

Why make new leagues instead of adding to the standard world?
Why the game has no competitive element or any engagement with other players except as co-op? We are all online and see each other, but its just a facade with nothing engaging.

Old fans like this endless loop of grinding, crafting, take photo with your character and delete.. but how about a continuous world with competitive challenges where we don't repeat but progress? and actually use our characters whom we invested 100s of hrs building to help us defeat these challenges and compete with each other. This can truly bring more fans to the game when it has this online competitiveness element.

How about:
- Challenges/ Missions to defend a map (invasion of OP hordes) where we join other players to play, and winner team receive special rewards. Encouraging rewards that make us strategize and engage with each other in teams to win.

- Players against an army of bosses, the team with highest number wins unique rewards.

- last team standing challenges.

- A gladiator-like arena to fight (pvp) but with equal set of gear and balanced atmosphere, or team vs team. you could be creative and put lions in the arena like in The Gladiator movie :)

Such games will make it super fun, and give our characters a reason to be preserved and have a purpose to keep progressing, rather than being a photo model for photo shoot. In fact, this makes one willing to play new leagues in order to create several builds of different classes/ sub-classes to use each one of them for each of these challenges.

POE2 is an amazing RPG, but its truly missing a great potential to be the greatest game ever where we can play it forever.

EDIT: I AM NOT ASKING TO REMOVE SEASONS SYSTEM, I AM SUGGESTING TO ADD NEW IDEAS ALLOWING TO PLAY IN SAME CHARACTER IF YOUU LIKE AND ENGAGE WITH OTHERS. SEASON'S CULT STOP REPEATING YOURSELF. YOUUR SEASON GOD WILL REMAIN.

BUMP! These are brilliant ideas for a next gen game like Poe2. Lets first fix the base of combat ;-)

Honestly there's zero reason to continually exclude Standard for months on end. Let the greasy speedrunners have their league setting for a week or two and then implement it wholesale.
