Orb of Alchemy

I play SSF, and I use alc's a lot on Jewels. I don't get Jewels very often, and even then, they rarely apply to my build. The new alc's are a great way to give those Jewels a second chance to be useful.

SSF

Jewels are a good use case for sure.

I do find it funny that all of the use cases are not for gear. Which must be intentional.

Even if it did work on magic for a +2, it wouldn't be that good. Cause a perfect into a greater essence is waaaay better.

Its clearly not AS useless as I thought. My favorite by far is the jewel use.

I think its going to confuse a lot of players when it doesn't work like they expect on magic gear. Theres zero chance I'm on the only one that thought it would work and preserve existing magic mods.

Again, its not even that good for that use case.

So why would you ever use it on a magic? There is no use case.

Au contraire. There's now zero reason to use it on a normal item (Unless you are like, starting the campaign and you need to get mods quickly(. You should for the most part only use it on magic items.

If you use the orb of Alchemy on a normal item, you get four random mods, but you lose the opportunity to have a blue item.

A good blue item is a great item because you can use Essences on it. If the two mods of a blue item are good mods, then using an Essence is a no brainer.

So if you have a normal item that you want to craft into a good rare, you should always first turn it into a blue item.

Now, chances are the resulting blue mods will not be good. In that case, you have some options. If you have other two bad blue items of the same type, then you can use the reforger and maybe you might get a good blue item. But if you don't have items for that, you can use an alchemy orb to re-roll the two mods and get two more mods. Since you already know the blue item sucks, you can at least recycle it into a rare now. Worst case scenario the rare will also suck, but you are jumping from a dead end item to another dead end. If you are lucky you could get better mods on the rare.

High quality bases with bad affixes.

Waystones with bad affixes.

Strongboxes with bad affixes.

Jewels with bad affixes.

Like what are you actually talking about?

I would say anyone confused by the fact that an orb that says it's going to upgrade an item to a rare item with 4 random affixes doing literally exactly what tf it says it's going to do is probably someone who spends a lot of time in life confused anyway so they're probably used to it.
