Shaders/DirectX12 huge FPS drop.
" ok here is small update for my first post ive tried all advises: cleared my '\AppData\Local\NVIDIA\' folder cleared 'AppData\Roaming\Path of Exile 2\' folder uninstall my GPU from windows completely and redownload lates drivers(591.44) changed cache size to 10gb nvdidia settings also tried swap from dx12 to vulkan and run game in fullscreen mode after all, ive noticed that '\AppData\Local\NVIDIA\' folder size didnt changed after POE game session, but 'AppData\Roaming\Path of Exile 2\' has been modified shaders bar was full about 5 min or so after first game launch, but after alt+tab for couple minutes shaders bar goes down to 0 it goes active again when i entered new locations for couple minutes, but goes down to 0 after all (looks like normal behavior) also 'AppData\Roaming\Path of Exile 2\' keeps growing from time to time for a little in other words alt+tab in fullscreen mode kinda trigger somehow (for me at least) dont pretend to be a solution or dog-nail, its just my personal expirience ive shared Last edited by Kaitena#5954 on Dec 8, 2025, 7:30:07 AM

" When did GGG acknowledge this shader cache issue? |
|
" This problem started with POE2 0.3, and now POE1 3.27 also has this issue. |

Yep Bump
3.28 needs to acknowledge and fix all these problems, or the game will just keep getting more and more unplayable. |

Was havin' a similar issue on my config.
I didn't notice the issue on standard league 3.27 while playing an "old" build but I don't usually show the perf' diagram. Loading time was somehow ok. Started the league a few days ago for a Righteous Fire build and I started to feel impatient on loading screen around level 10. The shader bar was stuck on all green ... Awfully long loading screen while TP back to town, haven't tried mapping. Aging but stable config: i7-4790K 16Go DDR3 GTX1070 8Go (not up to date driver) 1To SSD for Win10 Pro 22H2 Same SSD for Steam/games Game in DX12 1080p no upscaling Windowed fullscreen No VSync FPS cap 60 fps Dynamic Culling Disabled Dynamic Resolution Enabled Target Framerate 30fps What I've done : Cleared %LocalAppData%\NVIDIA\GLCache Cleared %LocalAppData%\NVIDIA\DXCache Cleared %AppData%\Path of Exile Cleared %AppData%\Path of Exile 2 'cause why not High perf' on both POE and POEx64 exe (Windows > Graphic Parameters) 10Go limit on shader cache (Nvidia Control Panel) Nvidia Driver updated to 581.80 then reboot. I tried it 10min before hitting the bed, no changes, full green shader curse and a lot of framerate drop. Played it 1 hour after work today, some animations where missing. Then suddenly while roaming the Crossroads, the shader curse disappeared. NO.MORE.PERMA.GREEN.BAR. Only some random spikes when encountering "new" things or portal back to town. Sadly loading screen is still quite long if I use portal ... and the shader bar sometimes stay green for 1 or 2 minutes once a leave town. But loading seems REALLY faster if I use a waypoint. Not instant but perfectly ok for my config. Typical perf graph' right now while idling in the wild. ![]() I'll have to test it a lil'more but it seems I won't need to sell my house for 2 stick of ram in a near future. >_> |
