SSF should be more rewarding to play. I'm not a masochist for pete sakes...

TLDR:

GGG has led PoE to be a trade-driven economy. Although the jest of what I am saying is that SSF is a self-driven economy. Rationally speaking the reason why a game like D2/D2R has no issues in an offline mode. Largely is due to the foundation of the game revolving around a self-driven economy with trade being secondary. I'd argue this is why the vast majority of ARPGs to single-player games are successful despite having an online feature for trading or co-op loot based gameplay.

My point, being that GGG should of acknowledged that the core foundation of their standard league directly contradicts an SSF mode. In implementing this mode without balancing it to fit a genuine self-driven economy. Despite being enjoyable for some it largely is flawed and does not respect the players time-investment.

Hence why I wish PoE2 had vendor recipes similar to PoE1 or a crafting bench to enable less rng and better target farming. In my opinion GGG looked at resource allocation and said it was too much work to balance SSF but they wanted to satisfy that margin of the community so they released it as is with a loot system that still revolves around a trade-economy. Then suggested it was their intention to make it more difficult, I don't buy that though. I think it was just easier for them. [EDIT] I also don't blame them for doing this if my opinion is correct cause that's what logically make sense from a business stand point.

Thank you. This helped alot. Now I probably understand your point of view and I must admit that I also miss vendor recipes - it was something rather unique and I liked PoE 1 for its replacement of gold with orbs. Thanks to this and missing crafting bench there are less obvious options for SSF players in PoE 2. But I think this will change after one or two another leagues. Right now there is still too much missing. New options will appear definitely.

I hope your right. I genuinely don't expect a rebalance and truthfully I don't believe it would be fair to those who enjoy the current state of SSF... Although the moment I see those options added; I will definitely give SSF another go.

Until then D2R muahahahehe!

Thanks for your input on the matter as well and I hope you have a wonderful league!

You know given how SSF is very much an isolated environment. We don't even really get rewards like in PoE1 during the league...

Wouldn't it be more enjoyable to have the ability to set the difficulty for SSF. Like parents or people who still want to do it on their own but have busy lives... ya know. Even if this only applied to non-league modes. I'd go do trade league right, have my fill. Then hope into non-league ssf with my own difficulty pacing and just enjoy my SSF experience there.

The only reason that would be a bad decision is because it would remove the ego of "look at what I did on my own" and I get it but idk meh. pride vs fun. I'll take fun any day of the week.

Are you doing SSF currently or have you in the past but opted out of it? What are your gripes/issues with it so far? What would you like see changed?

Man. I really wish people would stop talking about D2. Esp D2R which is the worse version.

Specifically I'm talking about Patch 1.10 which was adopted by D2R. This was the patch that introduced Skill Synergy one-button builds reinforced by harder enemies due to that shift in extra damage of one type. To this day my Diablo 2 remains v1.09 because it's simply better.

Before that patch you could alternate Chain Lightning, Frozen Orb, Firewall perfectly fine. You could also do Blizzard, Meteor Thunderstorm and Hydra. It's comically close to what GGG is trying to do with PoE2 but forcing it instead of letting us pick skills that simply work well together.

As for SSF. They're never going to do it because many players, including myself would rather play with better drops and no trade. That would split their community too much. It's bad on purpose.

When PoE1 first started it had a fairly healthy HC community. They killed it on purpose.
We're talking about a company that can't even reasonably balance skills at this point.

You think they're going to waste time working on multiple game mode balance too?

As an SSF forever player i say: no.

That's chill, as an enjoyer of SSF or singleplayer balanced games that respect your time-investment, I say: yes.

wow that was fun!

You dont have to play SSF. Thats a choice.

Also PoE2 is EA so it will be unbalanced for some time. You dont like it? Play something different.
