PoE1 has been one great example for the whole industry.

There's a market / audience (a constant need / demand) for QUALITY products ONLY. Where GGG was at the beginning and the amount of financial support it received through a span of a decade with the most generous F2P monetizing model, all of that success was accomplished while the market already had a well established and other "quality" "live service" online products.

What is a quality product? It's what we find ourselves playing and happily supporting for that to continue, which means our own "fun" (vision) aligns with the producer. I'm not concerned how successful a game is by its annual revenue or how many others happened to play it within a region or globally.

A game with less than 50k players each spending $50 annually can be deemed profitable and that means successful, which is why the total expenses after taxes, from rental office / garage space and ongoing "live service" maintenance / development costs define a success / profit or failure / sunset.

There's some advantages GGG retains today from its early years. PoE1 most likely costs less to maintain / develop, it's technically polished and graphically improved, while the issues with its engine are barely noticeable through better PC hardware and the use of Vulkan / Dx12.

Competition within the genre and more broadly remains poor, which does favor GGG, but also why there may be more visible disappointment and overall care among those who're returning, especially without alternative product in their rotation. How quickly Chris Wilson assembled Light Pattern is a further proof that there's a limit of how much happiness money can bring in this world.

Now, time to look forward and appreciate the upcoming Phrecia event, starting with the patch notes tomorrow alongside the arrival of 3.28 weeks after, which sadly may be the first league in many years I won't get to play due to IRL (family related stuff), but I surely will envy the many others who will be able.

You say you play the league, but I don't see challenges. That means you must be playing on one account and posting on another. Why's that?

I am easily one of the longest playing and power player making 2,000+ divines per league and I looked at the challenge progression once a few years ago just out of curiosity. Your idea that people play only for challenges and an ego pixel is not correct.

Anyway, the game is still great.

You realize the point he was trying to make is that you literally CANNOT play the league and not have at least 1 challenge done right?

That was the point.

You are defending the most well-known troll in the entire PoE forum database, based on a misread of someone's post.

To be fair...I do exactly what Art asked of the OP. So he could simply answer "yes".....but that won't happen. Get ready for it.
Starting anew....with PoE 2

I used to be quite insecure in my teens but never in my wildest days would I have typed something like that without double-checking what I am responding to. Are you okay?

I don't understand what's happening here.

Ego pixel? Takes less time to get the challenges than that 2000+ divines.
What are you doing with that many anyways?
