I am easily one of the longest playing and power player making 2,000+ divines per league and I looked at the challenge progression once a few years ago just out of curiosity. Your idea that people play only for challenges and an ego pixel is not correct.

Anyway, the game is still great.

It would be very difficult to get 0 challenges while playing the game competitively and for an extended period of time. You would have to purposely go out of your way to avoid them and even then some challenges are hard to avoid like the level 90 challenge or defeat Act Bosses challenge that pop up sometimes.
