Picking things up by clicking isn’t fun

Like gold, make all currencies pickup automatically.
Make stack sizes infinite.

Fine you want me to pick up gear, make gear worthwhile to pickup and balance this by making it more rare.

There are many ways to solve this, but the goal should be to limit the time I need to stop and pick something up, or have to deal with inventory slots.

Let me focus on killing things.

Ya, I mean who actually wants to engage in the games interface? Shouldn't we just smash our dps button. We shouldn't even have to move our characters. It should just auto move to the monsters.
You could try some idle games, heard some are good =)

Pinacle of engagement, i thank Jonathan(PBUH) anytime a mob pack decides to drop 6+ currency orbs in neat non-stacks, so my wrists can get a decent warmup.

I think that picking up things still gives me a little dopamine, but I think it should collect all currency in the nearby area. Or maybe currency that is left behind should be collected in a "lost loot machine' type system that can be accessed through a special map or mode.
declined.

play the game or play idle afk games.

If someone truly wants the full manual "click every pebble" experience, cool - make it a toggle. Options existing doesn't delete your preferred playstyle. The world doesn't revolve around you, and you don't get to enforce your preferences on everyone else like it's a sacred commandment.

What I want is simple, let me pre-set a loot filter so it only shows things I'd actually pick up, and then I'd pick those up every time. Right now the "gameplay" part of that is just wrist-tax. It's a hassle, it's a dumb mechanic, and it could obviously be automated - but apparently it isn't because of some loot-pickup religion where clicking is a virtue.

Decide please.
I don't think auto pickup is a good idea. That said, I was thinking about it the other day when I saw an option in the ingame options

There's actually an option called "pick up items on press" or whatever

I was like "damn, that's a thing?" so I went and changed the keybind, but it turns out what it does is that it allows you to pick up items ONLY when that key is pressed. If the key isn't pressed, it's as if the item pickup with mouse is blocked

What I thought it would do is that it would let me pick up items from a certain range around me by pressing the key instead of hovering my mouse over the item and picking it up

That would be way better imo. Example:

Kill boss, items drop, loot filter filters and then I press the key. Whatever was visible after being filtered will be picked up after pressing the same key a couple times as long as I'm near the loot

I believe GGG never considered this because wasd wasn't a thing in poe1, but now with poe2 wasd, using the same left button for item pickup and skill is quite weird to say the least. Your character even walks to the item, as if you're using mouse to move

Already decided.

Me saying "make it a toggle" and "here's what I want" isn't a contradiction. It's literally the same idea, just at two zoom levels.

- Principle: options. If you hate auto-pickup, disable it.
- Preference: I want less wrist-tax and less UI babysitting.

We already do this with loot filters. If someone wants the full "screen confetti + click every pebble" experience, they can turn the filter off and enjoy the clutter. But nobody tells them "filters are for casuals, quit the game, you wussy". Somehow options are fine there.

So why not apply the same logic to pickup?

Let the loot filter decide what I see, then let the game pick up what I see. If you're worried about "full automation", sure, do semi-automation first, like a "pickup nearby filtered items" key. But that just turns into me mashing a pickup button like I'm playing Whack-a-Mole with my tendons. At that point, why not finish the job and automate it properly?

This whole "don't like it, leave the game" mentality is just lazy gatekeeping. Different preferences can coexist. Nobody is asking to delete manual pickup. I'm asking to stop treating manual clicking as a sacred ritual that proves I'm having fun.
