Sound Volume Problems

Hey guys, got some sound issues.

All the ambient sounds and sound fx are maxed volume, regardless of what I do with the sliders. The music still works, I can just about hear it under the extremely loud sound of footsteps and water in town.

Im using windows xp and atm its going through an on board realtek sound thing on an asus motherboard, if thats any help.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

further note, tried running it through an esi firewire external soundcard and the volumes are fine. Still bugged out through my on board though.

I've tried to replicate this on an XP machine, and don't have the same problem.

I also am having issues and running on windows xp sp3 on a asus board. I even set the audio in the configuration file to 0. At login, all the sounds are as should be, but as soon as I log my character into town, the audio goes blaring loud. From there I log back into the title screen and the audio is messed up there as well until I relaunch PoE.

OK thanks, we'll see if we can determine the problem and resolve.

Thanks Qarl, and for extra clarification, audio was working perfectly fine before patch.
cheers.

Im running it through my music soundcard now so for me personally the issue is solved for the moment. some further details though just in case it helps, dunno if its useful or not

The motherboard is an
ASUS P5N-D

On their website they quote the onboard soundcard as
Realtek ALC883 8 -Channel High Definition Audio

although in my device manager, audio window etc its just quoted as realtek high definition audio, can't get it to give me a specific model code anywhere to confirm.

Character Attack Sounds When Using Sound Option Sliders: Ambient Sounds & Sound Effects:

Video I made of this Bug can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kj91BLzjYCg

When I go to use MY Sound Sliders (after the newest patch) for either the Ambient Sounds or Sound Effects options, it always plays attack sounds depending on what character you're on. Now if I'm in the Log-In Screen, it plays a female's class's attack sounds. Funny thing is, I have no female classes made.

I'm on Windows 7 with Realtek High Definition Audio speakers if that helps.

Just because a game receives a great amount of praise vs. only a small amount of criticism
does not mean to call it a day and make a foolish misplaced assumption that it is perfect.

same problem I think, sound and ambient volume stay on max no matter what adjustements I make.

Likewise asus board (p5k pro), 32 bit XP SP3

PS. what is this moaning in act3 ?!
I also have this problem, sound is maxed regardless of the sliders and mute in background doesn't work either.
